Willow's pov

Not even the heavy makeup I wore today made me feel pretty. Nor my clothes, or my neatly styled hair. No, not when I felt so ugly in the inside. Suddenly my clothes felt too revealing, like I was trying so hard to be something I wasn't. Did I actually enjoy this job? Or did I like the attention I got from it. Maybe I was just looking for an excuse to quit so I wouldn't have to deal with the humiliation of coming face to face with Jacklyn.

"Snap out of it pretty lady. You're up." Gladys snaps her fingers infront of my face. Her hair was now jet black and I complimented the change.

"Thanks are you okay?" Her face scrunches up with concern and I sigh. "Have you uh seen Jacklyn lately?"

Her eyes widened before pulling out a cigarette and lighting it. "Jacklyn quit a few days ago. I wish she wouldn't have she was one of my best plus she was studying Mixology I don't know why she'd leave. You guys were somewhat friends...do you know anything?"

I looked at her too dumbfounded to speak. "Um, no."

"Well if you hear from her tell her she left some of her belongings here." I nod and we both turn to one of the girls who looked at me with her arms crossed. "Are you coming or not?"

"Sorry yeah."

Time passed in a haze and work was just...boring. Not enjoyable, that's when I realized how much Jacklyn made the job fun. Working the bar was nowhere near as entertaining without her by my side. Suddenly I got a very stupid and dumb idea and so here I was by Gladys' office. I gently knock on her door and she yells for me to come in.

"Hey um, about Jacklyn's things. I can take them to her. I know where she stays and maybe I could even convince her to come back?"

"Thought you didn't know why she left?" Gladys squints at me and I let out a awkward laugh. "Doesn't hurt to try."

"Willow Im old, but not stupid. I can tell from a mile away that little triangle you guys have with that skinny brunette." I look at her shocked and she laughs loudly. "Listen just kiss and make up. Here her things are in that box over there."

Her head points towards a corner of the room where a medium sized box sat on the floor. I grab it and quickly make an exit for it. The conversation was awkward enough I didn't want to extend it any longer. The wait for the Uber wasn't long and Jacklyn didn't live far from the bar. Id only passed by her place once when Ellie offered to drop her home.

Standing in front of her porch felt like I was an intruder about to break in. After a lot of overthinking I finally accumulate the balls to knock on her door. A wait a few minutes before somebody answers the door. The woman that answers the door is almost a spitting image of Jacklyn, long blonde hair, fair skin.

"Can I help you?"

"Uh hi is Jacklyn home?" The woman looks at me suspiciously before yelling Jacklyn's name. "Jackie! You have a friend here waiting for you."

"If it's Ellie tell her I don't want to speak to her!" I hear Jacklyn's voice answer back and her mother turns back to face. "Nah it's not that girl."

A few seconds pass by and Jacklyn peeks her head out the door. Her face loses all color and she turns to her mom. "I'll be back."

"Mmkay" Jacklyn closes the door behind her after he mom walks back inside and we both stand inches from each other. "Why are you here."

I look down at the box in my hands and she sighs.

"Thanks. Bye." She snatches the box from my hand and spins around, her hand on the knob ready to go back in. "Jacklyn wait!"

"Why should I listen to anything you have to say."

"You don't have to. Not if you don't want to. Just know I'm sorry." Her body slowly turns back to face me. "Sorry about what? Sleeping with Ellie behind my back? Wonder how long that had been happening. I mean I knew Ellie had a thing for you but I thought you'd have enough dignity not to stoop that low."

Her words hit me like poison. She was right. "I know, I know. I'm sorry. I just came here to say I know how much you love your job at the bar and I don't want you to quit over all this."

"Well I'd rather lose the job than to spend one second looking at you."

"Listen just come back. Gladys needs a bar tender more than some slutty dancer. I'll quit, plus I know what this job means to you."

"You'd do that for me?" Her head tilted confused. I nodded and she scoffed. "You're making it really hard for me to hate you. I mean why? Why'd you do it? I knew what I was getting myself into by quote on quote dating her but it hurt more to know that someone who I thought was my friend would betray me."

How do I explain years worth of having a crush on one stupid girl? That no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get her out my mind. "I've kind of had a crush on her since I was a teen, and i know that in no way shape or form that excuses the fact that I was dishonest with you. I'm sorry."

"Fucking hell, I deserve better you know."

"I know. You're everything I wish I was, I mean look at you."

"Ditch Ellie date me." She smiled and I was taken aback. "What? I'm joking. Listen let's put this past us. I forgive you don't quit the job. I'll be honest I missed you at work."

"You did?" She sighed and with a roll of her eyes nodded her head. "But I don't however forgive Ellie. She needs to get her shit together."

"I agree."

"Yeah yeah, but you're sleeping with her. Just don't get your heart broken like I did, anyways I better get back inside this box isn't getting any lighter."
