David parked the car in front of a house where a male our age and an older female stood on the porch waiting for us.
"Oh, goodie," Eira said sarcastically while she looked at the two of them and pressed her lips into a thin line. "It looks like the rest of the party is out of the house and wants to see what's going on."
"Eira," David warned, and she looked at him and offered him a small smile. "Don't." He narrowed his eyes and scowled, and she bit back a small snort before she rolled her eyes and gave him a pointed look.
"I said nothing wrong, David," she said and unbuckled her seat belt before she shook her head and cleared her throat. "So, why are you narrowing your eyes at me when I did not say anything wrong?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
David bit back a small snort and shook his head. He didn't say a word and unbuckled his seat belt, and Daniel and I followed suit. He opened his car door and so did Daniel, but Eira didn't open her door and neither did I.
However, I did look at her while I placed my hand on the door handle, hesitating while Eira looked at me with a soft look in her eyes.
"Don't, open the door," she said, biting back a small laugh while she shook her head, and I hesitated before I took my hand off the door handle, not knowing what was going on. "The boy and man will open the door for us, Zanaya. They won't allow us to open it when they are near."
Daniel opened Eira's door when she said that, and he scowled and narrowed his eyes, even though there was a small smile on his face. "Who are you calling a boy?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and she looked at him and grinned while David opened the car door for me.
"You, Daniel," she said and stepped out of the car with his help, and I hesitated before I stepped out too, offering David a small smile in thanks when he helped me step out of the car. "You are the boy, Daniel."
"Mmmhmmm." He narrowed his eyes and scowled, his reddish brown eyes glowing with the fire that he held within himself. He closed the door behind him, and David closed the door behind me after I stepped out of his way. "I can show you how much of a man I can be, Eira," he said, and Eira bit back a small laugh and shook her head.
"As much as I want to see it, now; I can't," Eira said with a small laugh and another shake of her head. "We don't want to scare the newbie... yet." She looked over at me and flashed me a small smirk and a wink before she grew serious and looked at the two people on the front porch. "You are more of a man than one of you," she said, her voice a little louder than it was while she looked at the other male.
"Hey, now," the other male complained and shoved his glasses up his nose while he scowled and narrowed his eyes at her. Amusement filled his eyes while he stared at her, and I could tell that he respected her a lot. "That is rude, Eira."
"And what else is new, Ralph?" Eira asked, biting back a small snort before she looked at me with a small smile on her face. "Come on, Zanaya," she said and gestured for me to follow her to the house. "Let's get you settled in before we meet Katie, ok?"
I hesitated before I slowly nodded and started to follow Eira to the house where the others were waiting for us, not saying a word, and Daniel and David followed us without a word as well.
"Also, why are you still wearing those stupid glasses?" Eira asked Ralph, and I had a feeling that she raised an eyebrow in question. "You don't need them to see."
"Yes, and?" Ralph asked, raising an eyebrow in question. "This is your fault, Eira," he said, and she bit back a small snort and rolled her eyes while she scowled. "You were the one that gave me these glasses and told me to put them on because it fits with my "aesthetic," or whatever the heck you wanted to call it."
"Yes, because you are the nerd out of all of us so far," Eira replied, earning a snort from Daniel. She looked at him and flashed him a small smirk before she looked at Ralph, again. "I mean, who else knows all of the plants in each realm and knows what they are good for?"
"Uh..." He held out his hand and grew a literal tree from his hand out of nothing, and I stared at the tree in shock with an open mouth and wide eyes.
Holy shit...
"Maybe because I am the plant guy?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.
"Hmph." She smirked before she looked at me with her brilliant blue eyes that seemed to glow with power and compassion. "He controls life and the earth," she explained, tucking her head closer to her chest. "If you see earth moving or floating, then it's because of him."
I hesitated before I slowly nodded, pressing my lips into a thin line. I didn't say a word while I moved closer to her, becoming very nervous, especially since I didn't know what was going to happen now.
"We are going to get you settled in your new room first before we meet up with Katie," Eira said and looked at me again as if she read my mind. She smiled and dipped her head closer to her chest. "After that, David is going to take us to the shops so that we can get you some clothes and whatever else you need."
"That will have to wait for tomorrow morning," David said, and we looked at him. "Do you think you can pull some stuff out of your bag for her just for tonight?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question. "I think it might be best if she gets some sleep..." He looked at me before he looked at Eira.
Sleep...
My heart yearned to just go to bed, and I couldn't help but slowly start to slow down until it felt like I was dragging because I was just ready to go to bed and sleep.
Eira looked at me again and pressed her lips into a thin line. Worry flashed through her eyes, and it looked like she knew what I was thinking and knew what I wanted to do. She set her jaw and looked at David, having a small, silent conversation with him that none of us could hear.
David sighed and shook his head, grimacing. "Unfortunately, we will have to do this first before she goes to bed. Katie has waited long enough, and I know that she will be annoyed if we don't get her situated with the stone first before we get her situated with a shower, bed, and possibly some food." He looked at me when he said that before he looked at her again.
My cheeks turned red, and I looked away from them when my stomach started to growl a little because I was hungry, just as much as I was tired.
Oh, Gods...
"We'll get you taken care of as soon as we are done with this," Eira promised, biting back a small chuckle, and thankfully, her stomach growled as well, earning a small chuckle from Daniel. "And me," she said, her cheeks turning red while she nudged Daniel to silence him. "We're going to get me taken care of, too, but first, let's go see aht Katie has to say and get your stone. Ok?"
I pressed my lips into a thin line and slowly nodded. "Ok," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "Thank you, Eira."
"Of course," Eira said and smiled, bowing her head.
And with that, she turned around and walked the rest of the way to the house in silence, and I followed, praying that we would be able to get this done soon, and I hoped that nothing bad would come out of it.
If only it were true...
