My heart jumped into my throat when she uttered those words. I grew tense and stared at her with wide eyes, fear filling my veins.

What did she want from me? Why did she want to find me?

"Yo-"

"I know," Eira said, interrupting Caden. She shifted a little away from me, but she was still close, closer than I liked. "Don't be afraid of me, and stop thinking about having someone take me away from you," she scolded. "I don't want to freeze Caden, and to be frank, I don't know if it will work."

I furrowed my brows. "Freeze?" I asked, and she nodded. "What do you mean?"

"I can freeze stuff," she replied. "The reason why I said that I was trying to find you is because your stone had called you about three months ago."

"What do you mean?"

She bit back a huff of annoyance before she pulled a necklace from underneath her shirt. "There is a reason why you can see behind the Veil, and that reason is to deal with the fact that you are not from here." She furrowed her brows and cocked her head. "At least, I don't think you are."

"Then, where am I from? Where are you from, then?" I asked, calming down slightly.

Eira glanced at Caden, studying him before she nodded her head and started to finish her thing. "I will answer that later. Can I set this bandage on your leg? It's to help with your wound. We have to go, anyway; I will be yelled at because I left without permission."

Caden chuckled, and she glanced at him again. He looked relaxed in her presence as if he had known her for a long time and was able to tease her about stuff, stuff that I didn't know about and wondered what they were talking about. He raised an eyebrow and cocked his head, studying her. "Again? When will you ask him for permission?"

"Never," she replied. She looked at me and raised an eyebrow. "So, can I?" she asked.

I hesitated and nodded. I didn't trust her, not really, but she seemed to know what was happening. She had this aura around her that wasn't intimidating, but she had this commanding presence that did intimidate me and made me want to follow her orders.

Eira nodded her head. "I am going to take off your shoe and sock. You'll have to keep it off until we get to where we are going, but it should be healed by then."

"Should be?" I asked, and she nodded again. "What do you mean by should be?"

"You are the first person to see a Brïthir and live," she replied. She took my shoe off and wrapped the gauze and bandage around my foot with quick and sure fingers.

"A what?" I asked.

"The shadow thing," she said. "They're called Brïthirs." She finished securing my bandage and leaned back on her heels, looking at me with knowledgeable eyes. "How does it feel?"

I furrowed my brows and looked at the bandage around my foot. The wound stung a little, but I didn't feel as if I was in pain like I had the first time I noticed the wound. "It stings a little," I replied, looking at her. "But other than that, it doesn't hurt."

Eira nodded her head. "Good," she said. She stood and held out her hand. "I don't know if you will be able to walk, but you can trust Caden to protect you. He can't do anything to you, anyway."

"Why not?" I asked while I hesitantly placed my hand in hers. I was surprised when she pulled me up with such strength that I did not know that a female could possess.

"Because he is under your "control," right now." She led me over to the Minotaur and stopped in front of him.

I looked up at him, feeling nervous because of his big size.

He bowed his head. "May I?" he asked, and I hesitated before I nodded. He nodded before he gently picked me up, and I gasped and placed my hands around his neck.

His fur was warm underneath my touch, and I was surprised that I felt... comfortable in his arms.

Eira nodded her head when I looked at her and walked back to the stuff. Quickly, she picked it all up before she tossed the bag to the ground, and it disappeared.

"What th-?" I asked, shocked, and she turned to look at me with a small smile before she collected my sock and shoe.

"I am not "human," Zanaya," she said, standing. She gestured her hand, and her staff flew into them. "Come on; I'll tell you some information on the way." Eira started to walk in a direction, and Caden followed.

"What are you?" I asked.

"I am what is called a Holder," she replied. She gestured to the necklace, and I looked to see that it was a light blue gem with a snowflake in the middle. "I control ice and snow."

"Seriously?" I asked, and she nodded.

The other female held out her hand and created a small ball of ice, and my mouth opened in shock. "I am also not from this world."

"This world? Like, are you from Saturn?"

She shook her head, no. "I am from Earth, but I am not from this dimension. I do not think that you are either."

"There are more than one dimensions?"

"Yes," she replied. "New Earth is one of the dimensions. Another dimension is where I am from, and it is called Angesia."

"Angesia," I repeated, and she nodded. I furrowed my brows and cocked my head. "You said something about me not being from "here." Where am I from then?" I asked.

"Yervon," she replied. "Place where myths and legends are born from." She nodded her head to Caden. "He's from there."

I looked up at him and then looked at her. "Why is he here, then?" I asked.

"Because the passageways between each dimension have been closed," Caden said. "I have been stuck here for years, which I am not upset about, Your Highness." He glanced at the other female, who had tightened her grip on her staff.

She turned her head and stared at us with her brilliant blue eyes filled with unshed tears and darkened with pain. "I know." She cleared her throat and looked away. "But it still feels like it."
