IT WAS A heartbreaking conversation- nancy having to tell summer about everything. it took a long amount of time, and nancy broke down into tears several times throughout the conversation. summer sat on the couch next to her the whole time, holding her hand and hugging her at various times.

nancy worked up the courage to show summer her bruises, and summer's heart broke into two pieces. summer was crying as well, the thought of nancy going through that while she was mad at her made summer feel sick to her stomach.

"i'm so sorry," summer sobbed, pulling nancy in for another hug, "i should've never left you"

"it's not your fault," nancy sniffled, "i tried to choose you"

"you did?"

"i did" nancy looked down at her lap. "she wouldn't let me. she pinned me a-against the....the door and...."

"you don't have to finish that sentence, it's okay"

nancy nodded, and the two sat in a comfortable silence. nancy eventually pulled out of summer's arms and wiped her tears away. she checked the time on her phone, and her eyes widened when she saw it.

"fuck, i need to go. i didn't tell her i was leaving, i was hoping to be back before she woke up"

"what? you aren't going back there" summer stated, crossing her arms over her chest.

"i have to" nancy replied, standing up from her seat.

"no, you don't"

"she'll come here. that's where she'll check first. either way, she'll find me. it's better to just go back, summer"

"no. we're reporting her to the cops, nance. i'm not letting you go back there, it's too dangerous"

nancy debated it for a moment. then, reluctantly, she agreed. "okay"

summer sighed in relief. "let's go now"

"now?" nancy repeated back.

"yes, now. we need her locked up as soon as possible"

"fine"

nancy and summer spent almost all day at the police station. they waited for a while to talk to a cop at the beginning, then had to wait even longer afterwards.

nancy shared her story with summer by her side, supporting her the whole time. the cop was friendly- an average height brunette woman. she wore a kind smile and was patient with nancy.

nancy had to show them the bruises on her body, which they took images of. after the police officer left, nancy broke down into tears once again. summer held nancy in her arms, comforting her.

another officer came in to inform nancy that they had enough evidence to arrest izzy now, and she was sending officers to arrest her. nancy nodded, but her brain didn't comprehend it.

nancy waited at the police station until she was informed that they had izzy in custody. on her and summer's way out, they saw a cop car drive by. even with the tinted windows, nancy immediately recognized the person inside- it was izzy.

seeing izzy in the cop car was all nancy needed. she felt like a giant weight was lifted off her shoulders, and she could finally breathe again. she took a deep breath, feeling like it was the best breath she had ever taken.

"how do you feel?" summer asked as they walked down the sidewalk to her car.

"free" nancy said without hesitation. summer glanced over at nancy and smiled. "thank you, summer"

"of course," she replied, then lowered her voice to a whiser. "between you and me, i would've killed her if you asked"

"why would you do that for me?"

"you're my best friend, i'd do anything for you"

nancy and summer both got in summer's car.

"so we're friends again?" nancy questioned, a smile tugging at her lips.

"we never stopped being friends, we just had some time apart"

"i figured you hated me, honestly"

"well, i was a bit frustrated, i can't lie. but i know it's not your fault, and i don't blame you for it. plus, i could never hate you"

"i love you, summer"

"i love you too, nance"

"no, like, i really love you. you've stuck by my side no matter what. even when i'm a total bitch to you, you still don't hate me. you help me through everything, and i can always rely on you to be there for me. thank you. you're the most amazing best friend i could ask for"

summer gave nancy a big hug. "i love you, you're the best"

-

after nancy and summer left the police station, they stopped by izzy's place. the door was still unlocked from the cops, so nancy was able to get everything of hers from izzy's. once they got home, it wasn't long before nancy was curled up in bed with comfy pajamas and fluffy socks on. she pulled the blanket up to her shoulders and fell asleep almost immediately with summer right next to her.

the next morning, nancy awoke to summer missing from her bed. she yawned, feeling suprisingly well-rested. she didn't really want to get out of bed, though. the reality of the past few months was still stuck with her, replaying over and over in her mind.

she tried to pull herself from the thoughts. she was free of izzy's traps, her manipulations. she could do whatever she wanted, go wherever she wanted, and talk to anyone she wanted.

that's when her mind landed on robin.

she hadn't forgotten about robin. she still had feelings for her, but she tried to push them down after a month of being at izzy's. she figured there was no point in still being hung up over robin if  she had no chance with her anymore.

she still felt awful for what she did. she knew it was wrong, but she felt even worse now that she was out of izzy's trance. she needed to find some way to apologize.

she knew a text was not enough. especially after robin was so upset she wrote a song about it. she knew that she needed to give robin a better apology than that. but how?

she'll just have to figure that out.
