NANCY WAS LEFT in shambles in the middle of her living room. she couldn't stop herself from sinking to her knees and sobbing. she buried her face in her hands, which were now soaked from all of her tears.
she knew summer was right. someone who loved her shouldn't be like this. izzy shouldn't yell at her or go through her phone. she shouldn't try to convince her to drop her friends or beg her to have sex until she agrees.
she didn't think that izzy was that bad. sure, she had flaws, but didn't everyone?
it didn't matter how many times summer would try to convince nancy that izzy was abusive- nancy would never believe her. nancy had seen how abusive relationships were on shows and with her parents.
izzy wasn't like ted.
she didn't hit nancy. she didn't cause any physical harm to nancy. even in the sexual aspect of their relationship, nancy didn't see an issue. even though izzy would beg, nancy would always end up saying yes. therefore, nancy didn't ever think anything was wrong with it since she did say yes.
however, she must have known deep down that it was wrong, because she never told summer about that part either.
but she loved her. even if summer wasn't the best, she couldn't help it. her heart was still attached to the girl izzy once was- loving, friendly, and empathetic. she was different now, but nancy couldn't see it. she could only see izzy how her heart saw her.
that sweet, innocent girl.
izzy was like a spider, and her a sweet persona is her web. nancy, the unsuspecting prey, got caught up in izzy's flattery and affection- her web- and is now stuck. izzy would wrap nancy up and keep her there, encasing her tighter and tighter until she suffocated.
suffocation. that's what she felt in this very moment, left in the silence of her empty apartment. the quiet air was eating her alive.
nancy wanted to have summer and izzy in her life. she wanted to fix her relationship with izzy and get it back to how it was, and be best friends with summer at the same time.
if that ever were to actually happen, it would be in an alternate universe.
she hated being in the position she was in now- having to choose between summer and izzy. she knew she couldn't have them both, but she didn't want to pick one.
plus, she was worried what would happen if she chose summer over izzy.
but, at the same time, she was worried what would happen if she chose izzy over summer.
this was a big decision- one that would change the rest of her life. if she dropped summer, she would have to find a new place and a new best friend. if she dropped izzy, she would lose her girlfriend and a part of herself.
she didn't want to make this decision in one night. it needed to be thought out. she needed to weigh her options before she gave up one of the two most important people in her life.
-
on the second day of summer being gone, nancy had finally made up her mind. she hadn't seen izzy since then, since she made up an excuse about being sick and not wanting to go out. she needed time to herself to think, and she wasn't in the best mental state to be around izzy.
the decision had been the only thing consuming her mind. she felt like it was slowly eating away at her brain the longer the thought marinated in her mind. it was driving her crazy.
she threw on a pair of clothes and grabbed her stuff to leave. she locked the apartment door behind her, shivering in the chilly indiana air. she jogged to her car, turning the heat on the second she got in.
she drove to izzy's place, tapping the song's rhythm on her center console as she drove. when she arrived, she parked in her normal spot by izzy's apartment. as she walked to the door, she tried her best to calm her mind.
she knocked on the door, waiting for izzy to answer. even though they had been together for years, izzy had never given her a key or left the door unlocked for her. nancy always had to wait for izzy to come to the door, which was unfortunate for nancy when it was cold outside.
such as today.
she shivered as she waited for izzy to answer the door. about a minute later, izzy opened the door, suprised to see nancy on the other side.
"feeling better?" izzy asked as nancy entered the apartment.
"yeah," nancy replied, not moving far from the door.
"what are you waiting for? take your shoes off and let's go back to my room" she smirked suggestively.
"i just wanted to talk to you first," nancy replied, shifting uncomfortably on her feet. "summer found out"
"oh, she did?"
"yeah, and she isn't happy. she's been gone the past few days- she's mad at me"
"that's a shame," izzy replied plainly, clearly not caring.
"she wanted me to pick between her and you"
"well, you made the right choice," izzy smiled. "i'm glad you finally listened to me"
"i choose her, izzy"
nancy watched as izzy's face changed. her smile dropped immediately and her eyebrows furrowed. her expression was a mix with both anger and confusion.
"you what?" izzy questioned, her blood beginning to boil.
"she's my best friend, izzy. she's irreplaceable"
"she's easily replaceable," izzy spat, rolling her eyes. "i can't believe you'd leave me like this"
"i'm sorry, izzy. i do love you, but she's-"
"you aren't choosing her"
"i am," nancy stated firmly. izzy lunged at her, shoving her against the door. she used her hands to pin nancy's arms against the doorframe, trapping her. nancy's heart sank as looked around, noticing she was trapped.
"i wouldn't do that if i were you," izzy threatened.
nancy tried to fight back, attempting to push izzy off of her. izzy held her against the door, squeezing nancy's wrists so tight that they began to turn white around izzy's grip.
"i think you forget how much i know about you and your life. where you live, your school schedule, where you work, where your brother lives. i know it all, and i'll use that information in any way i have to"
nancy chewed her lip. she wanted to cry, to scream. but she knew there was no point. anything she did would never be enough. she'd be stuck in izzy's trap forever, no escape in sight.
"okay," nancy gave in, feeling as if she had no other option. "i'll stay with you"
"good girl," izzy replied, a smirk on her face. "now let's go up to my room, yeah?"
