PROLOGUE

∞We run toward the water, tripping in the sand, screaming and laughing like little kids. At the last second, he picks me up like he is carrying me across a threshold. "If you dare try to belly flop me right now, you're going down with me", I warn, my arms tight around his neck. "I go where you go", he says, launching us into the water. This is our start. This is the moment it becomes real. We are married. We are infinite. Me and Conrad. The first boy I ever slow danced with, ever cried over. Ever loved. We'll always have summer." ∞

THE FIRST SUMMER

OF FOREVER

Chapter 1

Belly

It was cold. The ocean wrapped around us like a second skin, frigid from the rain, and exhilarating. Conrad's arms held me tight as the waves crashed, pulling us deeper into the water. The salt was stinging my eyes, the cold water prickling my skin. I wiped my eyes. Mascara was probably smeared all over my face, but I didn't care. I was too wrapped up in him— in us.

Why did we do this again?

For a brief moment I regretted this decision- running into the icy water with Conrad on our wedding day. But then Conrad's words echoed in my mind: "I go wherever you go." A promise, a vow. When Conrad Fisher made a promise to you, you could bet your whole life on it. And I did. This time, I did. Suddenly, the chill of the salty water didn't matter, not anymore. We were infinite.

My insides swooned at how romantic this moment was. A nod to our past, and a celebration toast to our future. So unreal, I wanted to pinch myself. But it was real. It was. In every way possible.

This is the man I married—the first boy I ever loved, the one who knows how to pull me back down to earth when my romantic fantasies threaten to carry me away. Conrad is my gravity, my anchor. Sometimes, I can hardly believe that this is real—that I'm the one he's chosen to share his hidden, romantic side with. He's always kept that part of him locked away, for only one person to see. Sometimes it's hard to believe that that person is me.
