After their successful job interview, they were handed a contract. They didn't need to sign immediately, which was the first green flag. They had Leorio go through it while eating lunch.
Nahida watched him silently, and eagerly read through each section while she munched on some cookies. After half an hour, he nodded with a smile and handed Gon his contract back.
"Seems good."
Killua sipped on his soda, moving the straw away while pointing at a section of the contract.
"The second part is interesting."
Leorio nodded and looked at the area Killua pointed at, before reading that section out loud.
"Whatever object(s) are taken off the game will belong to mister Battera?"
Nahida nodded at Killua's suspicion. Saying it out loud while Killua stole a cookie from her plate.
"For it to exist, he must want something specific inside the game."
Killua was sure that old man wanted eternal youth or something like similar. To waste so much money on expeditions to find game items, he sounds insane. Even to an assassin that's seen so many messed up things.
Gon took the contract back.
"Whatever it is, it doesn't matter."
His eyes shined brightly along with his smile.
"I'm not interested in any item. I just want to know more about Ging."
His excitement was clear to everyone. Leorio gazed at him with a fond look while Killua huffed, he shouldn't have expected anything else from Gon. Nahida didn't realize she had also smiled while looking at him.
Even though she normally wouldn't care about the items either, if it can help her reach Sumeru, she'll have to find a way to bring it back without Battera knowing.
After lunch, Leorio left them to continue his medical studies. Without much time, they hurried to the meeting place Tsezguerra had told them about. In a large building where they rode the elevator. Then they entered a dark room where only the blue light coming from the many computers resting above the desks illuminated the room. Each one had a console where Greed Island could be played in.
All the windows were obscured with curtains, their want of privacy evident.
Tsezguerra crossed his arms before explaining.
"You will enter one at a time. Only when the screen doesn't display 'tutorial' can the next player enter."
As for the order, rock, paper, scissors was suggested. Gon won first place, Killua got 17th, and Nahida managed to get fifth place. With a pout, Killua went to stand beside Nahida.
Gon stepped forward, and used the memory card Ging had left him to enter the game. Nahida took her phone out and sent Wanderer an image where she had written symbols and words. It was actually Teyvat's language, letting Wanderer read it easily without worrying him that something had gone wrong..
'We'll have to communicate with Neo from now on.'
Wanderer felt his phone buzz, prompting him to check it. Once he saw Nahida's text, he understood she was going to enter Greed Island. He glanced at the sleeping Kite inside a yellow sleeping bag in front of him, then at the night sky.
He always knew that Teyvat's sky was fake. But he never realized the difference between a fake sky, and a real one. Seeing all these lights, with different colors and white dots all around them... Forming different shapes that he never got tired of finding instead of the same pattern he had gotten bored of.
