my eyes traced over the barely understandable math homework along with my pen. "Hey, remember how the party keeps annoying us and saying we need to date?" Mike said, looking up from his science homework.
my eyebrows furrowed, a smirk on my lips. "weird way to start a conversation, but go on." i replied, putting my pen aside. "Well.. what if we did date?" he said in a hesitant tone. "What? did you hit your head on the way over here?" i joked, my eyebrows slightly rising.
"Well, not actually date. just pretend we do. That way, they'll get off our backs. we'll stage a break up after a while, and it'd be pretty messed up if they keep bothering us after, right?" Mike suggested. my raised eyebrows furrowed again, lips slightly parting.
he did have a point. The party doesn't stop annoying us over the fact we should date. "You're right.. but isn't that kinda weird?" i said, resting my head on my hands. "It's only for a while. Besides, if we want it to stop.. this is the only legal way." He grinned jokingly. I rolled my eyes playfully at him.
"Fine." I mumbled, grabbing my pen and letting my eyes trail over the homework once again. Mike followed the gaze, chuckling. "It's pretty obvious these are all wrong." He said.

Mike and I sat on the couch in his basement. Everyone agreed to go to Hoppers cabin to talk about the whole Mind Flayer thing. That's in 15 minutes.
"So... do we hold hands?" Mike asked, fiddling with the hem of his shirt. I chuckled. "Mike, we're gonna need to do more than that to convince them." I chuckled half-jokingly.
"I was making sure if you'd be comfortable!" Mike protested, raising his hands in defense as he smiled. "I'm fine. You're my best friend. I trust you." I said softly, staring into his gaze.
Soon enough, we made it to Hopper's cabin. I sighed, staring at the front door. Some chatter was heard from outside, mostly arguing and giggling - probably from Max and El.
My head flew sideways, looking at Mike. "Let's do this." I said, clutching on his hand. "Yeah. Let's do it." Mike sighed nervously, squeezing my hand before opening the door.
We walked inside, closing the door before sitting down. Thankfully, nobody has really noticed anything. It was pretty weird sitting awfully close next to Mike.
Soon enough, the arguing began. There was this whole argument with Max and Mike about us spying on them, which was pretty funny.
"The way you're wording that is absolute bullshit." Mike commented before Max paused. "Are you holding hands?" She said, her voice suddenly quiet while an excited grin spread.
"Yeah, is that like not allowed for couples to do?" Mike responded with a sassy voice, per usual. The party gasped. "What?" I asked.
"You're dating?!" Nancy gasped out. "Yeah.. You guys kept saying it. We thought we should try. I thought we were all on the same page here." Mike replied, eyebrows raising. I smirked, then shrugged at Max and El. "We thought you all knew." I stated blankly.
—
Soon enough, the plan was set in action. Not Mike and i's plan, but the plan to defeat the mind flayer. After everything was settled, Mike and I decided to go to his house. We did that before, too. Nothing weird.
I was currently eating cookie dough ice cream out of the box while Mike ranted about the look on the faces of the others. "I think they're all convinced." I told Mike, licking off the spoon with ice cream.
"Yeah, but.." Mike started, his voice was filled with hesitancy. "I don't think Lucas or Dustin are believing it. If they don't believe it, nobody will soon enough." He said, dipping his finger in the box of ice cream to get a taste himself.
