Aurelia's pov

I heard a sharp yet stern voice of a woman walking in our direction.
"I didn't think I would run into such a scene"
She was Marquise Selene as she approached ,it became clear .
She was wearing a white cloak with gold embroidery and white leather boots.

"Just mind your own damn buisness"one man spat .

He was looking for death

"Oh i would have if it weren't for this child "

I looked at her, her face which was covered was now on display and
In milliseconds before I could realise I was in her hands and the one holding my hairs was on ground motionless.

She drapped me in her cloak covering my body and holding it closer to her by one hand and whispered in gentle tone
"Close your ears and eyes "
I did as I was told .

Suddenly I felt a freezing sensation down my spine but the hand holding me closer kept me warm . A sudden pair of fast  movement took me off guard . I removed my hand from my ears and opened my eyes when the movements stopped but a hand covered my eyes.
"I told you not to look ,the scene is not something a child should see, just tell me what is your name  "

My consciousness drifted away and some words left my mouth which remained unknown to me .

Fear took over me . A image of karl looking at me emotionless walking away from me , just like my father did flashed to my mind . My mind turning a turmoil but a warm hand tapping my head helped as I walked out of that scary dream and came to reality.
"Lia , Dad is sorry please wake up "

I opened my eyes slowly
"Papa "I let out a weak voice.

"Lia are you awake,butler call the doctor "

"The lady is alright now "
"Are you sure "said karl in a bone chilling voice.
"Ye..yess" he said probably doubting himself.

"Father what happened to me "I asked as he took me in his embrace
"You were unconscious" he said looking at me gently .
"Why "
"Because of the shock and exposure to mana for the first time "
"Ah yes lady Selene . I remember her saving me"
"Maybe she wasn't aware that you were not exposed to mana before but I am sorry I should have been better father . The next time I am never letting you go unprotected " said father in a guilty voice.

"It's okay papa the knights were with me and there is no chance you would have known before hand "

"But it's my fault Lia . I am going to train every knight according to war preparation force training.I couldn't save you this time but trust me, Papa can be the first one you can count on from now on "
He said as his eyes expressing the feeling of guilt, determination and care .

Karl's pov

I returned from the noble's gathering when darkness started to take over the sky.

The butler came running to me
"My lord, the lady is not back yet . She ventured on a journey to the market . I made sure to send the knights with her but..."

" But What ?" A sudden fear took over me . Could something have happened to her .

"They haven't returned"

"What nonsense what were you waiting for, order every knight in the duchy 's command to search for her , seal the borders. I don't care ,if needed involve the royal knights division . Fast , call Stephan for me "

"Yes your grace "

"I heard lia went missing " Stephan huffed after running a long way from the training grounds.

"Yes , get all the guilds of duchy to search. I am giving them 1 hour . Find my daughter at all cost "

"Hmm I'll give the orders "

Time was passing by and there was no news of lia . Every passing minute adding anxiety from all the worst case scenarios.

Just then the butler burst in through the door "Marquise Selene is here"

"Tell her to go back "

"The lady is in her hands"
