"My sweet daughter"
I heard the words as a head popped out from behind the door.
It was Marquise Selene.
I climbed down from my chair to greet her properly but before I got the chance to lift up the hem of my skirt in courtesy , I was lifted in air .
"Don't be formal, I am soon to be mother of yours "
"But you are not right now " I spoke ,still in air .
"You can just hug me , right ." She pouted
"Okay if you insist "
And with a swift movement. I threw my hands around her neck and hugged her tightly.
It took the lady a while to respond but she hugged me back .
It was so comfortable that I could stay like this for centuries.
But I can not , I withdrew first.
"It was easy, I thought you would make a fuss " the lady said .
"What am I ,a kid  " I asked with a smug look .
"Perhaps..yes " she said confused at her own words.
"Ah damn it, I AM in a kids body " I rolled my eyes . What a pain.
The Marquis laughed .
"What's so funny"
"Goodness child your expression ..oh..god , sorry it was funny "
I looked at her perhaps it wasn't that bad being a kid actually .
I enjoyed it , everyone dotted on me , I have no responsibility whatsoever, no work too and I can cling to people ask them for love without being embarrassed.

"What's going on in your little head " she asked .
"Nothing I am just angry with you "
I jumped down from her grip .

"It's been two days you came , and you are visiting me just now."
"I had a little work to do as I am new to the Household "
"But father saw you first , and I heard from the maids that you were looking like a goddess in the dress the day you arrived, you should have come to me, why must everyone see it but not me "
"You are not angry ,just jealous "

"No need to be jealous, this mother is all yours , you will always be my first priority from now on , I am not good at parenting but trust me I can always improve "
"Hmm " I nodded, I won't accept but I am touched.
"Marquis ,the royal crown prince is here ,he wants to seek an audience with you " a maid rushed in all Outta breath .
Okay I was angry , people are always there to disturb a sweet moment.

"Why is he here " the lady asked .
"He had been guided to the Duke's garden"
"Ok I'll be there "
She looked at me .
"I'll get going lia , let's have a fun picnic another day , hmm" she asked maybe reluctant to leave , asking for my permission.
"Yes , another day" I smiled and reassured her it was okay to leave.

Karl's pov
The crown prince was a unexpected and uninvited guest .
What was his purpose for coming.
Why does he want to seek an audience with my wife .
I thought as I drank the tea , scanning the prince infront of me who was looking like a scared lamb probably intimidated by my gaze.
Yes I realised but hey why was he here in first place . Let's ask.
"Why do you want to seek audiance with my wi..I mean by bethroed "
"I had something to talk to her "
"You guys seem close , now and at the banquet too "
"Yes we are childhood best friend "

"Damian,what are you doing here " the marquise barged in .
"Oh Selene you are here " he got up and smiled broadly.
I scoffed just friends, the way he looks at her says either.
"Oh the duke is here too , my greetings" she said smiling.
"Glad you noticed" I rolled my eyes .
She looked at me confused.
I don't know why was I being grumpy but hey even the mere sight of this prince wasn't pleasing.
"So what happened Damian"
"Ah " he looked at me then her "it's a personal talk so.."
"You want me to go. fine "
I got up .
"You can stay seated , I and Ian can talk while taking a stroll. Please enjoy your tea "the Marquise announced.
"Let's go Ian "
I could only look at them walking side by side each other , occasionally sharing a laugh.
And wonder what were they talking about and why are they so close .

The talk between Selene and Damian
"So ?" Selene asked .
"Just here to see you "
"Liar "
"I..like someone"
"Like what so is it a women or a ...men " Selene laughed and teased.
"The hell , of course it's a woman "
"Oh ok , well looks like you are finally interested in a woman, your parents can rest assured now . So have you confessed"
" No "
"What ?? Why "
"I don't want to lose her , she is a precious friend "
"You'll never know until you try right , come on , she might like you back "
"She doesn't,she likes someone else and is already engaged to him "
"Oh god it's messed up, the only woman you like , loves someone else . Then atleast confess and get rejected,it will help you to move on "
"No "
"Why not , there no way she is going to like you back so at least empty your heart "
"I would, if I could. It was my fault for not expressing before."
"How is that your fault, Although it's your choice, move on dude and maintain a distance, it's no use getting your heart broken over and over again."

Selene walked and Damian stopped listening to her words . Yes he could only do that . He would be happy if Selene were happy.even if it were from a distance.
"Hmm I will try " he replied.
"Be happy lene " he said it out aloud for her to hear.
She stopped at her track and looked back showing him the brightest smile .
"I will , you should too "
"Thank you lene,you always clear my mind " he said being grateful.
"Of course you are my bestfriend,if I won't clean that garbage who would "
There she was back to being herself. They both laughed.

"We are best friends and we would be best friends "They both will still laughter at eachother and they will be the dumb and dumber duo for rest of their life.
