Pain...
That was all Skylar could feel.
"Eddie..." Skylar mumbled, her eyes closed. "Eddie..." she called him, again.
When pain started to numb her, making her remember stupid things, Skylar opened her eyes slowly. With difficulty, she slit open her eyes, and tried to grab her forehead, but her hand felt too heavy. She felt herself shudder rhythmically, and she thought that she was been taken somewhere. She stirred, trying to sit up, and she did not know whom, but she saw someone notice her attempt and once more she was greeted with the heavy iron rod on her head. As stars appeared in front of her head, Skylar's eyes closed automatically, drowning her in darkness.
"Eddie..." the word slipped out of Skylar's mouth unconsciously, as she tried to reach him through the darkness that was engulfing her.

Pain...
That was all Ed could feel.
Feeling something wrapped around his body, Ed tried to open his eyes slowly, trying to check whether it was Skylar.
"Sky..." he mumbled slowly.
As soon as Ed opened his eyes, he had to shut them close again, because the intensity of the light was too much for him to bear. Trying once again, not wanting to let go of Skylar, Ed opened his eyes, slowly this time, trying to get a clear view of where he was. After Ed had adjusted into the brightness around him, his eyes swept past his body, and unknowingly, he searched for Skylar. He did not see Skylar over his body, hugging him close, as he had expected.
Then what was wrapped so tightly around him?
"Sky..." he called for her inside his head. "Sky..." he called again, loudly. "Sky..." Ed called her again, wondering what she was doing, and why she was not answering him.
"Sky..." Ed whispered slowly, as the gravity of the situation started to sink him. Had she left him, alone?
Suddenly, probably because they had heard Ed shouting, he heard some footsteps rush towards him. Ed tried to stand up, but without understanding why there were hundreds of tubes going in and out of his body, he fell back again. He tried to sit up straight, but felt the world turn fast around him, and with heaviness in his head, he fell back onto the bed, as pain shot through his chest, his eyes welcoming the darkness.

Ed did not know when, but when he tried to open his eyes again, he saw someone oscillate something here and there in front of his eyes, closer to his eyes. He tried to look clearly at that, and he wondered what it was. But when he was debating himself, he did not know how and why, but darkness engulfed him once more.
Ed's dreamless sleep was cracked open as he heard some whispers around him. Even though it sounded as though people who were around him were trying to talk in hushed voices, for him it sounded as though they were failing in it. With his eyes still closed, he saw Skylar looking down at him. Her face was inches away from his own, and there was a beautiful smile on her lips. She looked radiant, as though she was shining. She beamed shyly at him, and Ed felt some warmth spread around his body, starting from his chest and spreading evenly towards his arms, legs and head.
"Sky..." Ed mumbled inaudibly, as he leaned closer towards her. He tried to feel her softness, but as soon as he was inches away from her, she vanished.
"Sky..." Ed mumbled again, calling for her, wondering where she might have gone. Why did she have to do this every single time?
Ed tried to open his eyes by a fraction, and search for Skylar. But he did not know why a simple task such as opening his eyes was starting to feel as though he was trying to push a container with his bare hands. He tried again.
