Skylar took a deep breath and she raised her balled fist up. She had thought that either breaking down the gate or being polite was the only option she had, and even though she had been too close to breaking down the gate open, the goodness of her won the battle, and she decided to knock on the gate. Skylar was surprised. When her fist was just an inch away from the gate, a sound of metal chains being moved was heard and Skylar gasped as the gate creaked open slowly. Skylar bit her lip and hid her fist in the hoodie pockets once more. She waited.
The tall black gate opened, and in the dimly lit darkness, Skylar was not able to make out much around her. She squinted her eyes through the darkness and raised her beanie up, by a few inches. She stared. The mansion hidden behind that gate was situated a few feet behind the gate, and from the looks of it, it was too large. Skylar wanted to go inside, but she remained where she was, momentarily fascinated by the mansion. She awed at the tall building, and wondered whether she had honestly been kept hostage here, after she was kidnapped. When she had tried to remember anything about the home, only darkness had come up into her mind, and that too only after remembering and getting over the beatings she had. Skylar craned her neck. Both Ed and Jacob had been right. The building looked too large for a single person, and Skylar bit her lips.
Shaking her head, Skylar removed her eyes from the mansion, and she took a step inside. Suddenly, many light bulbs were illuminated and Skylar stumbled back in surprise. Many LED light bulbs were put on both sides and it illuminated in different colors. Skylar turned her head to the sides and looked at it. The light was drunk by the darkness, and Skylar was feeling greatful because she was able to see well now. She looked around the inside of the mansion once more, and saw that neither the garden nor the grass had not been maintained well. She remembered the Versels mansion and praised it inside her head. It had been too well maintained, but this was too much of a bother.
Skylar increased her pace and she jogged forwards. But, she was not able to take at least a few steps before she was stopped.
"Look who we have here."
A sudden voice drawled very closely to Skylar's ears, and she paused where she was. Skylar looked around her. The person was slowly growing into focus, and Skylar's eyebrows raised up in surprise, as many people came into visibility. It looked as though they had been waiting for Skylar to reach their trap. Skylar raised her chin up. The man closest to her was out of the circle, and he was two steps closer to Skylar than the rest. The others were sniggering and cracking their knuckles looking dangerously at her.
Skylar sighed. She had come here, expecting this kind of treatment. She was not surprised. Skylar tied her hands around her chest, and turned behind her. She tilted her head to the side and faced the man. She noticed that he was about two feet taller than her. Skylar pushed her glasses up her nose, and lifted her head to stare straight at the man's face. The man was trying to look intimidating, but the heavy jacket and the cap he was sporting, made him look as though he was just a kindergartner who was going to kindergarten for the first time on a cold day. Skylar was not able to control herself, and the laugh escaped through her lips. The man looked angrily at her. Skylar cocked her head to the side.
The man hissed angrily, and Skylar sighed. She took her hands out from her pocket, and rubbed them, as though she was at a party with her friends than she was in a place where she was rounded by many who were waiting for their turn to kill her.
"Is something funny, Skylar?" the man asked loudly. His eyes were dangerously narrowed closer. Skylar looked at his face and nodded.
"Yeah, to be honest, it is funny." she said, raising her eyebrows, and before the man had even raised his fist, Skylar snapped her fingers. A long invisible limb, formed out of thin air, and it held the man's arm, without letting him move further forwards, restricting his motion. Skylar shook her head.
