Skylar curled her lips and she looked up, breaking her eyes from her text book, as Reese poked her with her elbow.
"What Reree?" Skylar hissed, her eyes close to a very thin line that was almost invisible.
"Hm," Reese said, turning towards Skylar and pointing towards the classroom's door with her eyebrows. Skylar turned to look at where she was pointing, and her face lit up.
Darla was standing near the door to the class. She was looking afraid, holding her school bag with a hand and pushing her hair behind her ear. She was looking as though she was trying to meet some eyes. Her eyes roamed through the class, worry evident in them.
Skylar waved her hand, trying to grab Darla's attention.
"Darla," she called as Darla did not see her waving. But, hearing her name, Darla turned straight towards Skylar, as Reese too looked at her, wondering how her best friend had been so perfect at guessing names of strangers.
Darla smiled and waved back energetically. She came to the class and for a fraction of a second, the whole class fell in silence, looking at this uncommon stranger. Darla stood highlighted from the rest of the class, as her pristine clothes shone in the sunlight. She was wearing a sunlight colored jacket. Her fair skin was looking fairer with her choice of clothes.
Looking at the class nervously, as they were staring pointedly at her, she walked towards Skylar as she called to her again.
"Darla, come here." Skylar said, looking at the confused girl. She looked as though she was lost in the sea of eyes.
Skylar, who could define every action of Reese, and knowing that she was starting to kill her with her eyes, keeping her eyes on the young girl, she said to Reese out of the corner of her mouth, "I'll explain everything later."
Reese nodded, as though she was right and that she expected a proper understanding of what was happening, and she turned towards the girl again. She noticed how thin she was, and also the beautiful shade of gray in her eyes. She smiled sweetly, as Darla finally reached them and wondered why she looked familiar.
"Hey Dar," Skylar said as Darla smiled and waved at her.
"Hey Sky," she greeted back, as her eyes fell on Reese.
"Oh, I couldn't introduce you, girls." Skylar said and turned towards Reese. "Reree, this is Darla," she said as Reese smiled at Darla. "Darla," she turned towards her. "This creature you see right here," she waved her hand from Reese's head to toe. "Is my best friend, Reese aka Reree or even Ree when you are mad at her sometimes." Skylar finished her official introduction and laughed, as Reese poked her with her elbow again.
"Hi Darla," Reese said, extending her arm kindly. "Please ignore this sorry soul." she pulled her lips to the side and said, pointing her head towards Skylar. Darla laughed.
Skylar pulled a chair beside her and Darla dumped her bag beside her feet and took the chair.
"Oh" Skylar remembered turning towards Reese, her hand rubbing her forehead. Reese looked at Skylar, her eyebrows furrowed as she wondered what had caused this sudden thunder of realization. "I nearly forgot," Skylar said as a sarcastic smile dressed her lips. Both Darla and Reese turned towards her.
"She is Jacob's sister," Skylar said as Reese looked at Skylar as though she was turning into a mad woman.
"Jake doesn't have a sister." she said rolling her eyes, as though Skylar was the stupidest person in the world to suggest something that was absurd as that. Skylar smirked.
"No Reree. She is," she said again as Darla laughed, hiding behind her hand. She could feel Skylar pulling Reese's legs. Reese turned towards Skylar, ready to kill her.
