Skylar stirred and slowly opened her eyes. She felt something heavy over her body and she turned her head to the side, staring behind her. Ed was sleeping peacefully, his arm wrapped around her body. She smiled, and slowly turned her body towards him. She stared at his face, taking every single detail into account. She gently touched his eyelashes, and that made Ed stir and he opened his eyes. Skylar froze. She had been caught.
"'Morning darling," Ed whispered in a croaky voice and smiled at her. Skylar blushed.
"'Morning Eddie," she mumbled and pushed Ed's hand aside, trying to sit up. But Ed did not even budge and after a long fight, Skylar was finally in the bathroom, grinning to herself.
It had been two weeks since Skylar had woken up after her rescue, and ever since then, she had been living with Ed. Noticing her speedy recovery, all of her friends had been happier and they had left for their own homes about two days later. Even Henry had left for his home, but when he had tried to take Skylar with him, looking at Ed's saddened face had been enough for him to change his mind. He knew how bad Ed had felt after losing Skylar, and so as to compensate for the lost time, he had left Skylar behind. He knew that Ed would take perfectly good care of her, so he did not want to worry about that anymore. More than all of those contributing factors, Henry knew that if some problems were to come for Skylar, Ed would be there to protect her at all times. Henry knew that he would even sacrifice himself to protect her, but when reality jumps into the picture, things would prove to be hard. So, stopping himself from saying anything that might hurt Ed, Henry had nodded and given his approval. But before he had left for his home, he had taken Ed to the side, away from all of the others and had warned him to not to try anything hanky panky with Skylar, and promised that if he had done so, Ed would see a side of Henry that had never existed before. Listening to him, Ed had just laughed and promised that he would never do anything that would make her feel uncomfortable. And only then, did Henry leave for his home, happy that Skylar was back, and peaceful that she was in safe hands.
Skylar had a hot shower and she came out of the room, rubbing her head, trying to dry her hair. Ed was still on the bed, and he was checking his phone. He stared at Skylar's back as she stood in front of the mirror.
"Hey," Ed said, scrunching up his eyebrows. He turned his head to the side and stared at Skylar as she raised her eyebrows at him, staring at his reflection.
"What?" she asked, chuckling, as Ed did not break his eye contact, staring confused at her. He leaned forwards, and kneeling towards the side of the bed, he put his arm around Skylar's waist and pulled her towards his lap.
"Eddie! What are you doing?" she shouted, trying to push Ed's hand away from her waist. But he was too strong for her own good, and she landed on his lap. She rolled her eyes at him and waited as she knew that she did not have any hope of getting up now.
Ed stared at Skylar's neck and he gently pushed the blue strands of her hair that was hiding her neck. He touched the back of Skylar's neck, and Skylar froze as she realized that he had noticed her tattoo. She hurriedly tried to stand up, but Ed did not let her.
"When did you have this tattoo, darling?" he chuckled. Skylar shook her head. She did not meet his eyes, which were trying to catch her blue ones, searching for her in their reflection on the mirror.
"A long time back, Eddie," she said slowly, blushing profusely. She looked down and pushed a strand of her hair out of her face. Ed looked down at her tattoo. His eyes looked puzzled.
"Did you try to cover your birthmark, Sky?" he asked in a gentle voice. Skylar looked up, and finally her eyes met Ed's in the reflection on the mirror. She nodded slowly, staring at him. She wondered how she would live if he was always reading through her. During these past few days where they had lived together, he had found most of the things about her, which she had felt too shy to share with him. But at all of those times, he had just been kind to her.
