Naruto and Sakura walked silently side by side, their hand swinging between then as they made their way to the coffee shop. The street was busy, as usual, so they had to be careful crossing.
"Here we are," Naruto announced, stopping in front of a small shop, a wide grin plastered across his face. He wasn't sure if it was real or not, though. He was nearly shaking, and a dread was building up in his stomach. If things went wrong, what would happen to them?
"Yay!" Sakura cheered, looking genuinely happy, which was unusual, as she never looked this excited around Naruto.
Things were already looking up.
They opened the door and stepped inside. Coffee and Tea were the two predominant smells surrounding them. Lights were hung up around the corners of the room, small, round tables were set to the side and a section for booths were on the other. The atmosphere was cozy, and Naruto immediately felt at home.
Sakura beamed, looking around the room. She dropped Naruto's hand and stepped up towards the counter. Naruto followed, amazed it how rustic the place seemed.
"Wow, I love it already!" Sakura whispered, sitting down on a stool. Naruto sat beside her and she leaned against him, looking up into his eyes. "Thank you, baby, I really like this place."
"Of course, I knew you would...It's wonderful."
Sakura giggled, sitting back up as a waiter came towards them. He was tall man with slight facial hair and long, dark waves. His eyes were a light green and his complexion was much darker than that of Naruto's. In other words, he was the complete opposite of Naruto—in looks, at least.
Sakura paused, staring at this man a beat too long, which was understandable. Naruto was just as awed by the majestic and graceful way this man carried himself. Then, Sakura seemed to snap out her trance and she said, "Hello, there."
The waiter nodded. "What can I get for you two?"
"A small Vanilla Latte for me, please," Sakura said, tilting her head to side as she gazed st the man.
Naruto watched a strand of her hair fall across her face. As beautiful as the man in front of him was, Sakura was much prettier. And she was his girlfriend. It was odd that he seemed to forget that for a moment.
"A medium Caramel Frappuccino for me." Naruto had been saving up so he could indulge himself, putting back a little each paycheck, so he had enough to buy both of their coffees.
The man nodded and wrote their order dosn before heading to the racks in the back, where stack upon stack of ingredients and coffee sat. There were at least five coffee machines and ten syrups sitting behind the bar.
Naruto couldn't keep his eyes off this man as he worked: turning things on, picking up things, pumping syrup into a cup. It was odd, but Naruto felt himself flushing slightly. Was he...attracted to this man? Was Naruto even attracted to men in general? Did it even matter? He had Sakura, so in the end, whether he liked men or not wasn't important.
Of maybe it was. No, it wasn't. Naruto needed to focus. He needed to give his undivided attention to his wonderful, gorgeous, talented girlfriend.
Naruto looked over at Sakura, who was smiling down at her hands. She seemed almost melancholic, her eyes sad.
"Hey," Naruto whispered, resting his hand on hers. "What's wrong?" He tilted his head so he could see her face better, leaning over the table slightly.
Sakura stiffened slightly, before relaxing and sighing, closing her eyes. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to dampen the mood. I'm just...conflicted."
