'This feels strange, doesn't it?' Leah says glancing at Lia who is in the driver's seat with one hand resting on the blonde's thigh.
'Mm... It felt so wrong to be leaving them there.' Lia admits biting her bottom lip and Leah can still see the unshed tears in her eyes.
'We can go back and get them, love... If it's too soon for you then we don't have to do this.' Leah says softly causing the other woman to shake her head.
'No, this was your main birthday present from me... We're away for two nights, it's not like we're gone for ages.' Lia replies quickly wiping her cheek before glancing over at the blonde.
'They'll be fine with Kim. I know they'll be fine with Kim, it's just weird isn't it? I mean for their whole life they've just been there and it's strange them not being here but we're going to have an amazing weekend, I know we are.' Lia says and Leah nods her head.
'I love you.' Leah almost whispers as her hand rests on top of the brunette's.
'I love you too... Now lets pop some music on because this is going to be a very long journey.' Lia says causing the blonde to smile. Grabbing her phone, Leah immediately switches their favourite playlist on causing Lia to smile as the opening notes of Forever After All begin to play.
'You can turn it down a notch if you still have a headache?' Lia suggests and the blonde shakes her head.
'I'm good. So what are our plans for the weekend? Where are we even going?' Leah asks.
'I told you it's a surprise... You'll see when we get there.' Lia replies smiling.
'You know I hate surprises...' Leah says pouting slightly.
'No you don't... You just hate feeling out of control. I promise you're going to love this and that's all I'm telling you.' Lia replies gently squeezing the blonde's thigh.

'Babe... This is just- Well I have no words really. This is amazing.' Leah says shaking her head as Lia leads her into their hotel suite which has bi-folding doors that lead out to a decking with a built in hot tub and amazing views of Lake Windemere.
'I know it's not quite what we'd usually do for your birthday but I didn't think either of us would be ready to leave the country without the twins and I just- I wanted us to have some time just the two of us. Some time just to be Leah and Lia and not just mama and mummy.' Lia replies turning to face the blonde who smiles slightly.
'This is perfect. Honestly I couldn't have wanted anything more. Just you and me, here for a few days.' Leah says softly as she wraps her arms around the brunette and pulls her closer to her.
'I actually haven't planned much for while we're here because I figured we could do that together... I have however booked us in for a couples massage tomorrow because I thought after the past month we both could use some pampering.' Lia says.
'Mm... Best birthday ever.' Leah replies smiling as she sways them both from side to side and Lia's hands move to rest on the blonde's hips.
'We've got time until we need to go for dinner. Anything in particular you want to do?' Lia asks causing the blonde to raise her eyebrows.
'Right get your mind out of the gutter... We have like forty minutes.' Lia says shaking her head and watching as Leah laughs.

'What kind of wedding do you want?' Leah asks wrapping her arms around Lia's waist as she sits in between her legs in their hot tub.
'One that suits us... I don't want us to plan our wedding to satisfy other people. I want it to be what we want.' Lia replies and the blonde nods her head.
'Of course. It's our big day, no one else.' Leah says.
'Nothing too big either. I don't want a crazy big wedding where we can't even speak to everyone who we've invited.' Lia replies.
'No, just people we want there who are in our lives.' Leah says.
'Mm-hmm...' Lia replies smiling.
'I think I'm going to retire from international duty...' Leah says quietly, Lia immediately moving to face the blonde.
'What? Why?' Lia asks.
'I just- I don't think I want to do it anymore, Lia. I'm going to see the summer out; go to the World Cup if I get selected but I think that'll be my last major tournament. I don't want to be leaving you and the kids all the time. I want to be able to go on family holidays and not have to squeeze them around national camps and tournaments and club football.' Leah explains.
'Well you know I'm always here for whatever it is you decide to do. It's a huge decision to make, Le.' Lia replies and the blonde nods her head.
'I know. It's not something I'm just saying on a whim... I've been thinking about this from before I got my concussion actually. Like I said I want to see out the world cup if I'm selected so I've not made any final decisions but it definitely is something I'm thinking about.' Leah says.
'Well if you need to talk about it or you want to throw some ideas about then you know I am going to support you 100% either way.' Lia replies causing the blonde to smile.
'Mm-hmm...' Leah says moving some hair out of the brunette's face.

Curling her arms around the brunette's body, Leah can't help but smile as she pulls the other woman further into her side.
'This has been absolutely perfect, Lia... Thank you so much for arranging all of this honestly. I don't think I had realised just how much I missed us just being us, if that makes sense.' Leah says softly causing Lia to smile as she tilts her head to face the blonde.
'Lets start prioritizing a date night... Start off with once a month and maybe we can increase it if we find someone willing to babysit once a fortnight or whatever but lets try spend more time just the two of us.' Lia replies, her hand moving up to rest on the blonde's cheek.
'Mm... I think we've needed this time to adjust to being parents but now it's time to get us back.' Leah says.
'To be more than just mum and mama.' Lia replies smiling.
'I love you and I can't wait to marry you.' Leah says softly.
'I love you too... I can't wait to be Mrs Williamson.' Lia replies.
'You're going to take my name?' Leah asks and the brunette nods her head.
'I mean I'll probably keep Wälti in there as well but yeah I'll take Williamson.' Lia replies watching a grin appear on Leah's face.
'Why does that make me feel so emotional.' Leah says shaking her head causing Lia to laugh.
'Cause you're just a big softie at heart.' Lia replies smiling as she leans down to press her lips against the blonde's.
'Only for you.' Leah mumbles against her lips.
