"I can't see where you comin' from, but I know just what you runnin' from"

-Short Change Hero, The Heavy

There was no time to think: before Miles could yell for Gwen to come back anymore, an unnerving tingling travelled up the back of his neck. He did a backflip, hearing the signature mechanical sounds of one of Otto's claws as it buried itself in the spot Miles had been standing in.

"You're outmatched, Spider-Man!!"

Upon landing on his feet, Miles's head snapped up to meet the vicious gaze of Doc Ock. The mad scientist tore his embedded claw from the ground, adjusting his lab coat as he glared at Miles through his glasses.

"This isn't a fight worth having," Doc Ock warned Miles, the four claws hovering in the air as his eyes darted between Miles and his father-who had a gun drawn. "If I have to do this in order to be with my son, then I will... but I advise you two stay out of my way." He said, chuckling darkly. "After all, everything here is going to come crashing down soon anyways."

Miles snorted. "Might want to work on your negotiation tactics, Doc."

Why all of the mysterious language? His son? Everything coming crashing down soon? Miles's head was spinning, but now wasn't the time to think about it.

"If you think I'm letting you just walk away from the law then you're crazy." Captain Morales said, keeping his gun on the dangerous criminal. "Last I checked, we didn't allow murder around these parts. Especially not murdering a police captain."

Jeff's comment seemed to strike a chord with the doctor. Doc Ock's angered facade slipped into pensiveness, and his eyes drifted to the ground. "I never wanted that to happen..."

"Yeah, well you did it anyways." Captain Morales spoke up. "And it's time to pay up for-"

A metal arm swung at the two Morales's, and both Jeff and Miles stepped forward to block the incoming blow. The end result was that both were knocked off their feet, tumbling across the floor as Doc Ock bolted for the large hole in the wall.

"Miles, what are you doing??" Jeff said in frustration. "That thing could've killed you-"

"Hate to break it to you, dad-" Miles said, getting to his feet and dusting himself off. "-I'm the one who can take the bigger punches now."

He sprinted forward, tackling Doc Ock before he could reach the hole. The scientist threw a punch at Miles, missing narrowly as Miles jumped off and stuck to the wall.

"Uh-oh, looks like the octopus ran out of tricks." Miles taunted. "Do you got a thing of ink somewhere in that machine...?"

The nonsense didn't resonate with the scientist. His arm stabbed at Miles, forcing the young man to leap off the wall and land next to his father.

"Did anything he said earlier make sense?" Miles asked, keeping his eyes on Doc Ock as the villain pried his metal claw out of the wall.

"Sounds like a question for Gwen." Jeff answered, keeping his handgun trained on the scientist. "If I had to guess, it's probably got something to do with that giant thing she's chasing."

Sounded sensible enough. Miles's brain momentarily wandered back to what he'd seen burst through the walls of Octavius Industries-a massive monstrosity whose flesh resembled the symbiote, though Miles couldn't be sure. Just another problem we've got to solve...

Jeff fired a handgun at the ground in an attempt to deter Doc Ock, but it only made the scientist sneer. His arms crept along the ground, lifting with lightning-fast speed to deflect any bullets that Jeff fired at his limbs.
