"Does that make you love me, baby?"

-How You Like Me Now, The Heavy

He was almost there.

Miles had been racing through the empty streets to get to Oscorp Tower ever since he'd seen the symbiote take control of Gwen once again. He hadn't run into any trouble on the way there-which was surprising, since he was near the beating heart of New York City's current war-torn status.

His arms pumped and his legs churned with virtually no restriction-the suit he'd designed had allowed for extreme flexibility while still being comfortable.

He was starting to pant, even though the goal was just within his reach. Would it kill Gwen to get me a set of web shooters so I can get around quicker??

Even though Miles's lungs were aching at this point, he couldn't allow himself to stop running with what was happening. Sounds of shouting, destruction, and chaos could be heard from the higher levels of the tower... he had no idea what the symbiote was doing inside that tower, but all he knew was that it couldn't be good.

The front doors looked to be unguarded, making Miles push himself even harder as he drew near. But then one door began to push open, and he skidded to a clumsy stop, waving his arms to maintain balance before looking at the newcomer.

At first, this seemed like just a taller Oscorp soldier... the person was wearing what was obviously Oscorp gear, only with a few slight differences. This person's armor was a bit smoother and consisted of sharp gauntlets rather than gloves on their hands. But the biggest difference was the dark purple helmet bearing black designs around the eyes... a difference that gave away who this person was.

Is... is that the Prowler?!!

Miles began to back up, his eyes growing wide as saucers as the Prowler continued his advance, scraping the sharp claws of one of his gauntlets together in an eerie fashion that made Miles's skin crawl. He'd heard about how the former infamous cat burglar of New York City was now a 'general' of sorts for Oscorp's forces and had been the biggest thorn in the side of the NYPD during the whole fight with the R&D giant.

"I've been hoping you'd show up eventually, Spider-Man..." The Prowler remarked, seeming to savor this moment as Miles's heart began to race. "...Oscorp's been trying to find you for quite a while... seems they haven't been able to gather the intel they wanted on another one of their fun little experiments."

Wh... what??

Before Miles could ask what in the world the Prowler had meant, the new enemy lunged forward to tear him apart. Miles was barely able to dodge the Prowler's swift move, ducking and diving to his right as the Prowler chuckled menacingly.

"Yes-sir... if it's any consolation, you'll get a lot of questions answered before they do... whatever it is they want to do to you." The Prowler informed Miles, pausing and lowering his hand to his abdomen. Over his stomach was some odd panel with a few glowing buttons, and he pressed one before sighing, almost in relief.

"You trying to be Darth Vader with that thing?" Miles mocked, then had to step out of the way as the Prowler aggressively slashed downwards at his head. Miles stumbled backwards, nearly falling down as the Prowler's claws buried into the asphalt of the road they were standing on.

The top soldier of Oscorp ripped his claws out of the ground, then began to scrape one claw against another on his gauntlet again-an odd tick that Miles hated listening to. "I'll recommend a 'no painkillers' procedure to the scientists if you make this difficult... or maybe I'll tell them to keep you in the dark about everything, let you never know why all these terrible things are happening to you."
