『 Battles 』

The battles went on, each one showing different skills and abilities of the genin involved in the fight.

The first bout pitted Sasuke against Yoroi, where Sasuke came out victorious by flashing his powerful skills from his Uchiha clan. Then, Shino came out victorious against Zaku in a battle that portrayed strategical abilities. Kankuro came out victorious against Tsurugi.

The fight between Sakura and Ino was moveless in the end, showing they both had equal skills. Then Shikamaru defeated Kin with his genius tactics, and everyone was left in a gasp. But that's not all; what really startled everyone was that intense fight between Temari and Tenten. Tenten was severely wounded and lay unconscious at the end.

Kakashi had been telling both Sasuke and me during the matches not to use our Sharingan or to activate the curse mark, or we'd be disqualified on the spot. After Sasuke's fight, Kakashi took him off to seal off his curse mark. I did the same after mine was over, trying to calm the cursed power at bay.

The screen above us changed to signal the next match and a wave of anticipation struck the room.

Uchiha Misaki Vs. Omoi Raiden

"Yipe!" I wailed sarcastically as I jumped the railing down to the floor below, ready to face my opponent.

"Good luck, Misaki!" he shouted out in the arena, and I turned around to wave a thanks back.

"How you doing?" Raiden asked out of nowhere as the battle stance was assumed between us. He had chocolate skin, fluffy white hair, and piercing onyx eyes, so he was drop-dead gorgeous.

I raised an eyebrow at his question. "I could be better," I answered shortly.

"Great," he said with a smirk.

"Enough chit-chat," Hayate said brusquely. "Begin."

With this, the battle started upon Hayate's command, and I became fully focused on Raiden as I was ready to give it my all.

Tight was the air as Raiden and I locked eyes, ready to let loose our skills upon each other. What used to be a light-hearted atmosphere was now overwhelmed by the seriousness of the impending battle.

Without a second's hesitation, the first to make a move was Raiden; he created a display of lightning around him as he rained quite a shower of kunai at me, infused with lightning speed. I avoided each winging deadly projectile by whiskers as I continued dodging and weaving swiftly.

I charged towards him, leveling a flurry of taijutsu strikes that would exploit any opening in Raiden's defense. Every punch and kick I threw was precise; each blow landed with calculated force.

But Raiden wasn't long in reciprocation. His fists seemed to fly into a flurry of punches at me, now charged with electricity—lightning bolts. Barely missing his strikes, I felt the static crackle inches from my skin.

I started focusing on my elemental jutsu, building up my chakra to fire off an onslaught of flames in Raiden's direction. With the raging flames now consuming his clothes, I turned my back on him and walked away; he was sure to succumb to the burning heat. Much to my utmost surprise, however, the flames were repelled by a sphere of lightning that surrounded him, and he reappeared, completely unharmed.

The battle grew fierce with each strike that passed between us at our limits. I gathered everything—strength, will—and refused to give up.

I learned how to center my strikes on weak points to maximize their potential. Finally, my blows were starting to take their toll on Raiden, as he staggered back, coughing up blood.
