As we continued to roam around hither and tither, a sense of bewilderment crept inside me. We were pacing about, and it felt like he had never planned to speak at all. But even then, my curiosity got the better of me as we walked deeper into the lanes of Konoha, which beheld several food stalls and restaurants.
"Where are we going?" I asked in my most bored tone, still not feeling like being very friendly. I wasn't in the mood to talk to Kakashi anyway; it also wasn't the best mood to do it after he preferred to train Sasuke instead of me.
"I thought we could talk and then grab a bite to eat before we meet up with Sasuke," he hummed.
See Sasuke? That made the suggestion all the more annoying, and somehow, I had to make my answer short. "Fine," I said, not bothering to conceal my exasperation.
We walked a short distance before finding a quieter ramen shop. We made our way to a corner booth and finally Kakashi started to talk, his voice sober but kind. "I hope you know that I had the full intention of training both of you."
His words caught me by surprise. I stretched my eyes over him, trying to digest what he was trying to let out.
"Please," I scoff, somehow trying to veil the hectic emotion inside me. "What's done is done. You shouldn't lie to yourself. I have a teacher now, so you don't need to try and take over that role anymore."
"Misaki," he spoke, firm but gentle. His tone was unbending. "It's not about that. I did have the full intention to train you, but you did not let me explain how I was going to go about training the two of you. You simply. walked off."
"That isn't my fault," I mumbled, feeling a pang of defensiveness.
Kakashi sighed.
"You have to remember, Misaki," Kakashi continued, never once wavering from that calm but focused tone, "Your body tends to react before your thoughts. So always consider that when you're around comrades, you're safe. There is no need to shield your body from us or run away whenever you hear something that doesn't suit your mindset."
"Whatever," I said, bending my head down, unable to meet his gaze. I knew he was right, but admitting it was another matter.
Kakashi was not deterred by my dismissive attitude. "So, I will teach you the Chidori. Not that I will pick favorites among my students, of course, because all of you are equal."
"Okay," I said, resigned and uncertain in my voice.
Kakashi sweatdropped. Apparently, it was an expression typical for him.
