Upon hearing the doctor's explanation that the total recovery and healing time Yunho needed before he could conceive again was two years, he felt the weight of the world crashing down on his shoulders.
Again.
He and Mingi had fought hard for two years of their marriage to bring Junghwan into the world, and after failing, they had to postpone and wait for another two years.
This couple had been too patient in their lives.
But no matter how rushed they were, there was nothing they could do.
Mr. Kim, the guilty boss, had thought about and contemplated everything. And as a redemption for his guilt, he bought a seven-day holiday package to one of the states in the United States. One day he heard Yunho's story about dreaming of visiting Universal Studios.
So his boss tried to make it happen. Tickets for Yunho and Mingi. He knew all this wasn't equivalent to the fatal mistake he had made. But he just wanted to try to comfort and heal Yunho's wounded heart a little, and distract him from the sorrow of losing the anticipated child.
Mingi felt relieved that during their time in America, he could see Yunho's smile again, which he felt had been lost for too long since they lost their baby. Yunho seemed cheerful and happy again as usual, although occasionally he couldn't hide his sadness in front of Mingi.
Mingi knew Yunho too well. It wasn't difficult for him to recognize what his life partner felt just by studying the expressions on his face.
As they finished their vacation and returned to their routine by going to Skinner Inc. to fulfill their profession and obligations, Yunho found that his division boss had been replaced. Mr. Kim was transferred to the logistics division three floors below the communication division where Yunho worked.
More precisely, he was swapped with Miss Cho Miyeon, who previously worked in the division Mr. Kim now led. This woman was already married; Miss was just her nickname in the company.
Mr. Kim intentionally requested this exchange under the guise of optimization and improving performance efficiency. Although deep down he had a more personal reason.
He just didn't want Yunho to see him every day, which would remind him of someone who had caused Yunho to lose his baby. Of one of the worst memories he had ever experienced in his life.
Fortunately, Miss Cho was only transferred to this company for thirty days, so she wasn't as close to her former division members. So it wasn't too difficult for her to let go of her subordinates on the lower floor.
So with the new boss, it was hoped that Yunho could truly turn over a new leaf without having to recall the incident that had taken away half of his breath.
Yunho just returned to work, translating company news, websites, in front of the computer, beside San's cubicle, in front of Hongjoong's. Delivering news outside his office occasionally. And other job desks. With Mingi in the next division, half watching over Yunho if he could.
Mingi had tried as much as possible to entrust Yunho to San and Hongjoong, although Yunho had assured Mingi that he was very strong and would always be fine.
But Yunho understood that Mingi's concern was not just because he felt responsible for his promise to Kwon Yuri, Yunho's mother, to take better care of her beloved son. But because Mingi really worried about Yunho from the bottom of his heart.

Yunho was too busy to buy a birthday present for Mingi.
So he just gave him a letter from the hospital stating that Yunho was pregnant now. Complete with a photo showing a life inside Yunho's womb that had undergone total recovery for two years, a bundle of joy, an ultrasonography.
And like a cliche scene in dramas, Mingi said that he didn't need any other gifts. Because this news alone was the best gift he had ever received in his thirty-four years of life, including eighteen years of being with his beloved man. Who was now about to give him descendants.
Mingi planted a loving kiss and thank you on Yunho's forehead for a few seconds. Caressing Yunho's flat stomach containing their baby. Which contained a fragile creature that they would name Song Junghwan.
They didn't know the gender of their baby yet. They would find out at the next check-up at four months of pregnancy. And if their baby was a girl, they would just change her name slightly to Song Jungwan.
"Thank you for coming back, Junghwan." Mingi invited Yunho's belly to speak. Which was of course answered by Yunho's soft chuckle because he missed this long-lost interaction so much.
Yunho wiped away the tear tracks flowing down Mingi's cheeks. "Enough, don't cry. You crybaby. Uljima, Appa."
"You already know me well that I'm like this." Yes, he was born emotional. His feelings were easily touched by little things. Shedding tears of joy or sadness on various occasions. Yunho liked his very emotional partner. So he could comfort Mingi anytime.
"As a celebration, how about we have a movie night cuddling all night?" The birthday boy asked.
Yunho nodded in agreement, of course. This would be a special and enjoyable night. "What do you want to watch? Do you want to recommend something? Maybe one of your friends just told you about an exciting new movie?"
"What about you? Do you have one?"
"Eiiiyyy, aren't you the birthday boy? Why am I the one picking?"
"As long as it's a good movie? Why not?"
"Awrite." Yunho tapped his index finger on his chin, putting on a thinking gesture. "What about Get Out?"
"Are you serious, Jung Yunho? I just heard that you're pregnant, and you want to watch a psychological thriller genre movie together? No no. It's a big NO. You'll get anxious, and your anxiety won't be good for your baby."
"Then what? You decide." Yunho said puzzled.
"Free Bird?" An animated film about a turkey that changed the history of food to celebrate Thanksgiving. Something they never got tired of watching together in the transition between summer and fall, around Mingi's birthday. Like it had become a tradition and a ritual of its own.
"As usual?" Yunho chuckled again. "Okay. And don't forget I always crave pizza and fried chicken every time we watch it."
And that night, they ordered pizza and fried chicken to accompany their movie night, replacing a large bowl of regular popcorn.
Until everything was gone, and they washed their hands and continued the two-hour movie while cuddling, sharing warmth under the blanket Yunho brought from his room.
Mingi reminded Yunho that from now on, he had to reduce his consumption of pizza and fried chicken and increase healthy food in his daily menu. Like he used to do two years ago. Before Mingi got Yunho's head leaning on his shoulder falling to his lap.
Yunho fell asleep when the turkey and human forces were still at war and hadn't finished changing history yet. What could he do? It was late at night, Yunho must be very sleepy.
So Mingi carried him like a bride and took him to bed, laid him down, covered him, and Mingi hugged him again under their thick and warm blanket. Following Yunho into his dreamland.
Tonight was truly blissful.
Mingi hoped that this time, Yunho and he would succeed without any more too difficult tests to face in the future.
Yes, he hoped so.
