Mingi didn’t know what to do.

He wanted to take care of Yunho. He really did.

But since waking up early this morning, Yunho had not wanted Mingi to touch him. Not even to see his face.

Now it was Yunho who had taken sick leave to rest at home, and Mingi was going back to work to support them both. So it was best for Mingi to leave Yunho as he requested.

So Mingi left, without a morning kiss before their parting. He had to be patient, convincing himself that this wouldn’t last too long.

After Mingi left, Yunho wrote something on the wall of their room with colorful markers. A list, and he couldn’t stop smiling as he scribbled on the white surface. He made a mess of it. But he was sure Mingi wouldn’t mind.

In the evening, Mingi finally came back from work. There was no Yunho to greet him at the door, so he walked through the house to their bedroom where Yunho was. Yunho was still busy re-reading what he had written on the wall, like a writer proofreading to perfect his work.

Mingi greeted him, and Yunho welcomed him warmly. It seemed that Yunho had recovered and could accept Mingi back near him.

Mingi asked about what Yunho had written.

It was a list of things Yunho wanted to do when Junghwan was born.

Typical things like breastfeeding, bathing, chatting to make the baby laugh.

And holding the tiny baby in his warm embrace, rocking him, and singing lullabies until the baby fell asleep.

These were Yunho’s long-held dreams. And now, soon, he would realize them. No one could explain how happy Yunho felt right now. That feeling mixed with his impatience to get it.

Yunho also wrote that he wanted to have a photoshoot with Mingi and Junghwan, the three of them.

Three of them.

They wouldn’t be just two anymore.

Their family would grow.

Everything would change.

Yunho also wrote that for their first photoshoot, he wanted a theme of forest animals made cute and adorable.

Mingi rubbed Yunho’s head. Now everything Yunho did seemed adorable to him. Making him want to forget that they were both now thirty-four.

“I want to hold Junghwan like this,” Yunho gestured as if holding a bundle of baby in his arms.

Mingi chuckled. “I understand, darling. I feel the same. It will be so much fun. We will look like a happy little family.”

“Not like, we will really be a happy family with Junghwan in the middle of us!”

Mingi shook his head at Yunho’s enthusiasm. His partner was so excited.

“There’s something I want to show you,” Mingi said.

“What is it?”

“Come with me.”

Obediently, Yunho followed Mingi outside.

And was surprised by what he saw in front of him.

A new car that Mingi had finally bought from his savings over the years. Without Yunho ever knowing.

Mingi hadn’t meant to hide anything from Yunho. He just wanted to make a pleasant surprise for him, and he was relieved he succeeded.

He saw Yunho looking disbelieving and simultaneously happy.

“Thank you, darling. Thank you so much. You’re the best.”

“Then, may I ask for my gift now? To make up for not getting my morning kiss from you.”

Yunho immediately kissed Mingi’s cheek for a few seconds.

“When Junghwan is born, we can go anywhere we want, just the three of us, with this new car, more comfortably. No more crowding on buses or trains,” Yunho chattered, already imagining something with their new private vehicle.

Well, ride-sharing would also prevent crowding. But still, having their own car felt different.

They both went back inside to have dinner together.

If Yunho felt better, he would go to work with his new car along with Mingi.

Ah, life was getting better.

There were many advances in Yunho and Mingi’s lives that felt improved.
