"I'm home!"

Yunho didn't need to bother figuring it out, as Mingi's car parked outside indicated his husband's presence at home. Mingi had returned from the office. So Yunho greeted him cheerfully and excitedly, holding a paper bag in his hand.

Yunho was sure that Mingi, who was now rising from the sofa and standing in front of him, was not deaf and could see him well. But instead of welcoming him, saying hello, or anything of the sort, Mingi stared at Yunho with a cold, flat expression. It was piercing, making Yunho feel as though Mingi’s gaze was penetrating his bones and joints.

"Mingi?"

Little did Yunho know that Mingi was probably angry with him for what he had done. That’s why he brought something—not only because he was thinking of Mingi but also to soften his heart. It was like a bribe.

"This is for you." Yunho tried to hide his fear as much as possible. Mingi was a good husband, after all. He would surely forgive Yunho.

Mingi took the paper bag from Yunho’s hand. The bag emitted a pleasant aroma from a pile of Mingi’s favorite honey chicken. Mingi did not look at the package at all. He just received it, but his gaze remained fixed on Yunho’s increasingly frightened eyes.

"Still remember to come home, I see?"

Yunho swallowed hard. He did not expect to receive such treatment from Mingi. Anxiety began to overwhelm him, as he caressed his bulging belly, which was also experiencing contractions in the lower part. But he held back from grimacing. Just a little more.

"No wonder you were so insistent on leaving the house. Ha, I should have known. You must have feelings for Mr. Kim." Mingi was referring to Kim Jongin, or Kai, or the president director of Skinner Inc. The highest leader at Yunho and Mingi’s workplace. Mingi had felt insecure when he first saw Yunho blushing and enthusiastically talking about Kai two years ago when the CEO had invited him into his office for tea and conversation while waiting for the main meeting. It was an excessive action from a CEO towards Yunho, who was nobody.

And now, when intending to follow Yunho to Adhesion Polis, the largest shopping center in the capital, he had to see Yunho appearing very familiar with Kai—too familiar for a superior and subordinate without any relationship or interest—in a fancy restaurant inside the mall. Mingi’s perspective and feelings, fueled by jealousy, made it seem like a more intimate scene, creating a misunderstanding. Instead of approaching and taking Yunho to leave immediately, he preferred to go back home and see how long Yunho would last with his pleasure and forget about Mingi.

"Mingi, dear, I just intended to get some fresh air. You know I shouldn't be too stressed before giving birth. I need to relax and have fun. Meeting Mr. Kim Jongin was something unexpected. We met by chance. I even refused, but he insisted. I felt bad about rejecting his invitation. Please understand." Yunho explained in detail, trying to make Mingi understand the situation.

"No, I don’t understand why. You could have refused him. You’re a human being, endowed with reason and thought. It’s just a matter of coming up with a reason to decline someone’s request. How could you still accept his invitation? Falling in love too much, hmm? With a much wealthier man who could provide for you and make you happy. Yes, I should have realized that a poor man like me is never worthy of a beauty like you. I’ve been a self-assured and overconfident fool all this time."

"Mingi—"

SMACK!!!

Mingi had just thrown the paper bag in his hand with all his might against the nearest wall, creating a loud, startling noise, and its contents spilled onto the floor. Yunho stared in shock and dismay at the gift. His heart pounded faster than normal at Mingi’s terrifying reaction. He had never seen Mingi so angry with him. He had always seen Mingi’s gentle, loving gaze. Never this angry. He wanted to say that Mingi’s reaction was excessive, but part of him felt that Mingi’s actions were understandable. He didn’t know which side to believe.

Yunho tried to reach for his husband's hand, "Mingi, I—"

SLAP!!!

Mingi slapped Yunho hard after swatting his hand away, leaving a clear mark on Yunho’s face. The slapped one winced, holding his stinging cheek. He looked at Mingi in disbelief. Mingi loved him dearly. He always protected him wherever they were together. This anger was unfamiliar to Yunho. It felt like he was confronting someone different. Mingi had never done this before. What was happening to him?

With his defenses held as tightly as possible, Yunho tried to call Mingi’s name to wake him up, but, "Ah!" He winced louder as Mingi pushed him with all his strength, causing him to fall onto the sofa behind him. Yunho rubbed his increasingly painful belly, as the impact pushed his baby forcefully, causing him to reach the third dilation stage. Without him knowing. Without him realizing. Mingi’s violence made it hard to be aware. Usually, dilation doesn’t happen all at once but gradually.

Mingi should have immediately taken Yunho to the hospital.

But thinking about the hospital was a luxury. It was fortunate if Mingi still remembered Yunho was carrying their baby.

Unfortunately, thoughts of Yunho being with that wealthy man invaded Mingi’s mind, clouding his judgment. His rationality was lost.

"You cheap whore! You’re disgusting, Jung Yunho! I’m truly disappointed in you!" Mingi harshly wiped his face.

Then there was silence. Yunho and Mingi were not in the open sky right now. But both seemed to feel the ozone layer in their small home.

An unusual atmosphere. Making both of them feel a strange mix of hot and cold, and also stuffy. Ah, yes. Maybe because they lived in a small house in the outskirts of the city?

No, that couldn’t be. They had been living in this place for almost five years of their marriage, and usually, everything was fine. So they didn’t need to worry about moving to a bigger house.

It was just that they felt discomfort from the atmosphere created by Yunho stopping his voice. Anyway, talking was pointless. Mingi was never willing to listen to his explanations.

Mingi walked into the bedroom, returning to the living room with a pillow and blanket in hand. He threw them carelessly towards Yunho, who now had sluggish reflexes. "You should sleep on the sofa tonight. If you suddenly want to leave, it will be easier for you to walk to the door faster." Mingi’s low voice still sounded cold in Yunho’s ears before disappearing behind the bedroom door. No sweet goodnight or goodnight kiss. Leaving Yunho’s defenses utterly shattered.

But Mingi couldn’t hear Yunho’s sobs clutching his thick blanket outside.

Because he was busy crying into his pillow inside his room.
