Loud beeping made Jake open his eyes. His vision was blurry, and he could hear his heart beating in his eardrums.
"Mr. Sim. Can you hear me?" Someone called out to him, shining a flashlight in his eyes. "Mr. Sim."
He blinked a couple more times, noticing the amount of paramedics around him. He had an oxygen mask on and he could feel movement under him.
"What happened?" He asked in a whisper, trying to sit up, but straps around his chest didn't let him.
He was strapped to the stretcher, his legs were too.
He lifted his head, seeing blood all over his white shirt, and he started panicking.
"What happened?" He questioned again.
"Calm down, Mr. Sim. What's the last thing you remember?" The paramedic asked him as he placed his hand gently against his chest.
Jake tried to think, but he couldn't remember anything at all. The slate was wiped clean.
"I- I don't remember anything."
The paramedics looked at each other in worry, before looking at Jake.
"You don't remember anything about the accident?"
"What? What accident?"
"When was the last time you saw Sonny Lane?"
"Who is that?" He asked, shaking his head in confusion. "Please take these off me. I want to move."
"We can't, just wait for a little more and we will release you."
"Why not?"
"You might try to hurt yourself, sir."
Jake closed his eyes tightly, before opening them, seeing an unfamiliar white ceiling.
He looked around, noticing equipment, and he realized he was at a hospital.
"Jake."
He jumped at the sound of Heeseung's worried voice.
"Are you okay?"
"What happened? What accident? What's going on?" He questioned in rapid fire, before looking down at his clothes, seeing he was in his work uniform.
The curtain that separated his bed from the other opened, and his Dr.Hart walked in.
"Jake. You're in reality right now. Don't worry." She informed and she looked at Heeseung who stared at Jake in concern. "Mr. Lee, do you mind if I have a conversation with Jake?"
Heeseung quickly nodded his head and walked out, closing the curtain behind him.
Dr. Hart waited until she heard the hospital room door close before clearing her throat.
"What do you remember, Jake?"
Jake looked up at the ceiling, slightly shaking his leg, trying to calm down his heart and get over the confusion. "I was... at the cafe... I think."
"What about that question that you had for Mr. Lee? What was that about?"
"How did you know I was here?"
"I work here, remember? I saw you getting brought in by Mr. Lee... Now please, answer my question if you can."
"I think it was another hallucination. I was on a stretcher, in an ambulance, I think. And they, the paramedics, told me there was an accident, and asked me when was the last time I saw Sonny."
She stared at his reaction to saying these words, and debated in her head, before clearing her throat and sitting in the chair Heeseung was once sitting in.
