Heeseung stood outside of the landlord's apartment, taking in a small breath to calm down, before knocking on the door.
His eyes expected to meet the landlord, but instead, his eyes met the bartender's.
His lip was swollen, and he had multiple bruises forming on the side of his face.
Heeseung felt his heart drop out of a sense of fear.
But this was just enough to let him know that Jake's words were accurate and true. He truly was related to him.
Heeseung ran a hand through his hair, before faking a smile and looking behind him in fake curiosity.
"Hey."
"Hi." The bartender said as he stared at him, his eyebrows slightly raised. "Are you here to see my dad? He's in the kitchen. You can come in."
"Oh...yeah." Heeseung said hesitantly as he watched him step aside to let him through.
Heeseung looked around the apartment for a few seconds, spotting the landlord truly in the kitchen.
The older man froze at the sight of Heeseung, before looking at his son for less than a second.
"What can I help you with?" The landlord asked after a heavy moment of silence making Heeseung feel uncomfortable to be there.
"Just wanted to talk about the studio, since Jake won't be there for the next few days, I'm the one with the keys." Heeseung spoke as he nodded his head, making the landlord hum as he gestured for the couch, and Heeseung sat down comfortably.
Heeseung felt the room was tense. They weren't keen of having his presence in the house.
It's weird.
"I didn't know you lived here. I'm sorry about what happened with my friend at the bar, but you know with what happened to Sonny, his head has just been... messed up." Heeseung gestured to his head to the bartender as he faked sympathy, making the bartender give him a smile and a wave of his hand as if it was nothing.
"I know how terrible of a tragedy it was, so it's fine. I only pressed charges for now, but I am planning to drop them after knowing about his condition." The bartender almost mumbled as he sat on the couch across from Heeseung.
"I never asked for your name before."
"Ron."
"Cool. I'm Heeseung." He said as he nodded his head.
Heeseung smiled a little before looking around again, spotting the black Prada boots Jake was talking about. They truly had hints of cement on them.
Heeseung looked at the landlord, who met eyes with him.
The landlord's eyes were clouded as he looked at Heeseung, almost as if he was trying to communicate with him without speaking.
Heeseung's thoughts drifted back to the conversation he had with him about the boots at Sonny's door, and the trails of cement they usually left behind. About him eventually believing they were Jake's and leaving it alone.
He was trying to lead me to his son... He's turning him in.
His eyes traveled back to Ron, before he cleared his throat.
"Besides a rent run down, since I've only been staying with Jake for a few days, I wanted to continue our conversation that we had the other day." Heeseung addressed the landlord, whose eyes widened just a little, but Heeseung smiled gently. "Thankfully after he had that manic attack the other day, Jake's been healing a lot, so in a way I owe it all to your son."
