Jake slowly opened his eyes and his blurry vision focused on someone laying her head against the handles of the bed.
"Hi Jake." Sonny greeted in a whisper, giving him a gentle smile.
He only stared at her, tears already building up in his eyes, and one managed to escape.
She softly wiped one of his tears and ran her hand through his hair.
He could feel her so vividly, but he was sure this wasn't one of those memories.
He was still at the hospital.
He looked around at the empty room, before looking at Sonny who sat up, removing her head from the handle to look at him clearer.
She tilted her head a little, before furrowing her eyebrows.
"You won't say hi back?"
"Hi, Sonny." He whispered roughly, his throat was hoarse, and he didn't know why.
Sonny climbed into the bed with him, the same silky dark blue pajamas she wore the first time she had shown him a memory were on her body, but strangely enough now he remembered what that memory was.
That conversation wasn't with Heeseung, it was with him. The toothbrush on the sink was his, not Heeseung's.
The person she was looking at through the mirror and smiling at so happily...
It was me...
She gently lay her head against his chest and let out a sigh, before looking up at him.
"Do you see me now?" She questioned and he only nodded his head, unable to speak as he was about to cry again. "Good."
She sat up and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him towards her chest. His tears silently fell, and he quietly cried as she placed a kiss on his head, and gently ran her hands through his hair, comforting him.
His hands were shaking as he wrapped them around her waist and hugged her tightly.
"Sonny?" He whispered under his breath.
"Hm?" She sweetly hummed as an answer, tilting her head a little.
"Now that I remember you, does this mean I won't ever see you again?"
Sonny lay her head against his, without an answer to his question.
His hands gripped at her silky shirt as he tried to focus on the sound of her breathing, the up and down movement of her chest, and the warmth of her arms around him.
Jake opened his eyes, facing that white ceiling again. His entire body felt relaxed, and besides the pain coming from his hand nothing else felt out of place.
That was a dream. Where Sonny came to see me...
"You're awake." He heard Dr. Hart say, and he looked at her in a hurry, startled at her being there, before relaxing again. "Do you remember much?"
He looked up at the ceiling again.
"Do I remember much?" He reiterated her question as she watched him intently.
"About Sonny. And you. Tell me as much as you can remember."
"I remember... that she'd always wake up before me, and ask if I wanted to have tea, but I would tell her I hated it." Jake whispered, containing the lump in his throat as he maintained his gaze on the ceiling. "I remember she used to tell me to open the windows to let the sunlight in, because she said that the light coming in isn't the same thing as the actual sunlight coming in, which I thought made no sense, but I still listened to her."
