I sat shoulder to shoulder with Christian, the soft glow of the desk lamp illuminating the textbook pages spread out before us. With focused determination, we delved into yet another worksheet, our pens scratching across the paper as we worked through the problems together.

The faint sound of pencil scribbling and occasional murmurs of discussion filled the air as we navigated the challenges posed by the assignment.

"There's gonna be an annual party set up at Malu's house," he informed me.

"Malu?" I questioned, unfamiliar with the name.

"Yeah, she's on the school board. Instead of it being a weird members-only type of deal, it's for everyone," he explained.

"Everyone?" I echoed, surprised by the inclusivity.

"Yup, I want it to be a mask party," he added enthusiastically.

"That sounds like a recipe for disaster," I remarked, practically rolling my eyes at the thought.

"What's wrong with a bit of mystery?" he countered.

"Everything," I deadpanned, unconvinced.

After our conversation, I made my way back to my dorm room, where my phone immediately chimed with a notification.

"What?" I answered, a hint of annoyance in my voice.

"I might show up at that little party," the voice on the other end declared.

"Why would you do that?" I questioned, puzzled by the sudden decision.

"For fun," came the simple reply.

"I might not even show up," I countered, feeling a bit unsettled.

"And why now?" they pressed.

"For fun," I replied, mocking their earlier response.

"You seem a bit off. What's wrong?" they asked, sensing my change in demeanor.

"I hit writer's block. No matter how much I sit at my computer and try, nothing comes out," I admitted, feeling frustrated by the creative stagnation.

"Hmm, i can help" he said

"How?" I questioned, intrigued by the suggestion.

"Write from my perspective," they proposed.

"And why would I do that?" I countered, puzzled by the idea.

"Because, unlike your usual writing, it'll be out of the box. It'll show how you can see both sides of the mirror—the one looking at the other, and the other only looking at themselves," they explained, their words sparking a new perspective.

Huh

That actually sounds good

"But how do i even write from your perspective" i said

"The way i like to view it as protecting, loving, nothing i do is wrong, not when it is helping you"

I sat at my desk and open up my file,

"A dual-sided mirror, where I peer into depths unseen, though they merely catch a glimpse of their own reflection in my eye. I offer unreservedly, pouring forth love unbidden. It's akin to plucking petals from my own essence, bestowing them upon the one who holds my heart."

Not good but not bad

"Oh how you captured me so beautifully"

"This... actually might be a good paper" i muttered

"It will be the best"
