I bundled up in my thickest jacket before braving the biting cold to head to class. The weather had turned unbearably frigid, leaving me shivering with each step. Upon arriving, I exchanged greetings with my classmates, commiserating over the brutal conditions outside.

"Yo," I greeted, voicing the sentiment shared by many.

"Man, it is terrible outside," Lora remarked, echoing the collective dissatisfaction.

"You're right. I almost didn't show up," Jess admitted, his tone reflecting the struggle we all faced.

Navigating my way to the front of the classroom, I inadvertently collided with someone, sending their belongings scattering across the floor.

"Oh my god, sorry," I apologized hastily as I stooped to retrieve their things.

"It's okay. You're fine," the person reassured me, their voice calm despite the disruption. "I'm Jake," they introduced themselves.

"My name is Y/N," I replied, offering a polite smile as I straightened up.

As Jake entered the classroom, I prepared to follow suit. But just as I was about to step through the doorway, a chilling whisper sent a shiver down my spine.

"I will kill him."

Plain and simple

yeah, i ain't turning around for that

I continued into the classroom, feeling Jake's presence looming closer behind me. Desperately, I sought solace in Lora's gaze, silently pleading for support. Instead, she merely chuckled, dismissing my unspoken plea with a wave of her hand.

"So, are you good at this subject?" Jake attempted to strike up a conversation, drawing my attention away from the uncomfortable situation unfolding.

"Huh? Math? No, not at all," I replied curtly, hoping to nip the conversation in the bud before it gained momentum.

"Me neither," he admitted, seemingly undeterred by my lack of enthusiasm.

"Yeah, but I have a really good tutor. He's actually my boyfriend," I blurted out, hoping he would take the hint and cease his line of questioning.

"I should have known a pretty thing like you would have someone, and it's doubly impressive that he's your tutor," he remarked, his tone laced with a hint of admiration.

"Yeah," I muttered under my breath, silently pleading for him to drop the subject.

As I attempted to focus on the worksheet the teacher had handed out, my phone buzzed in my pocket. Hastily retrieving it, I was met with a message from Christian.

"It's so cute, I'm your boyfriend," the text read. Before I could respond, Jake peered over my shoulder, his intrusion unwelcome.

"You're texting your boyfriend?" he inquired, his curiosity bordering on invasive. Just as I braced myself for another awkward exchange, Jess and Lora fortuitously intervened, joining us at our table and providing a much-needed distraction from Jake's prying eyes.

"Answers, woman, don't hold out on us," Lora demanded, her tone tinged with impatience.

"Okay, okay, fine, damn," I relented, pushing the paper over to them. As they copied my worksheet, I discreetly glanced over to ensure the teacher wasn't looking.

"So, are you and your boyfriend serious?" Jake's question hung heavy in the air, causing a sudden silence to descend upon us. It was as if time had momentarily frozen, our gazes locked in uncertainty.
