(Chris POV)
I covered my face, unable to believe it. Not only had I orchestrated the perfect day with Y/N, but I had also managed to kiss her.
Oh, the way she shivered under my touch as I drew her close.
Now, as I stood watching her sleeping form, a torrent of desires surged through me, but I restrained myself. Damon had insisted I wait. I suspected that he was just jealous because I was closer to my dear sweet Y/N than he was to Mel.
Speaking of which, I needed to have a word with him.
After nuzzling into her neck, inhaling her scent, I reluctantly leave and retreat to my room, then into my study. My gaze falls upon the computer monitors, one of them replaying the intimate moment we shared on a loop. I make a mental note to switch it to the footage from our time at the museum.
Glancing down at the laptop in front of me, I find myself captivated by Y/N's peaceful form as she sleeps.
Suddenly, a message pops up on the screen. "Still need help with the rat?" it reads. I sigh heavily, the weight of unresolved issues pressing down on me.
Jake is still out there, alive, and it bothers me more than I care to admit.
"Yes, but my dear, it is too smart for that. That rat is a slimy thing. He didn't show up for class, and I know Y/N thinks it was my doing," I explained, my tone dripping with disdain.
"We could just end him, right here, right now, and ask for forgiveness," my accomplice suggested eagerly.
"No, this is what got you and Mel in the situation you're in now," I reminded him, my voice firm and commanding.
"...good point. How are you going to play this?" Damon inquired, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
"Simple, nothing. Trust me, I've got this. He still thinks Y/N is in the dark about me, and honestly, watching her interact with him, I know she can barely stand him herself," I replied, a sinister smile playing on my lips.
"Good, good," Damon muttered, nodding in approval.
"Still having troubles with Mel?" I prodded, knowing full well the answer.
"Yeah, she still thinks I'm a terrible person, but she's warmed up to me. But I've got a good plan for her," Damon revealed, a hint of excitement in his voice.
"What's that? Going to pull a sad backstory with the mental problems?" I mocked, my amusement evident.
"Exactly. A little bit of nightmares with the whole 'no, it's just... this is the day my mother took her life' spill," Damon confirmed, a smirk forming on his lips.
"Fantastic. Guess those acting classes really paid off," I remarked, impressed by his cunning.
"Sad I had to kill my teacher after, though," Damon admitted, a shadow crossing his face.
"He was catching on. Better to go ahead and tie off those loose ends than to deal with them later," I reasoned, my voice cold and calculating.
