There stood Shane.
I collected my voice. "Why-why is he here?"
Christina exhaled deeply. "I told you I was with someone!" I glared at her ignoring Shane's obvious presence. She continued, "you told me to bring whoever!"
I groaned trying to decide if I had the audacity to leave Shane in the cold, I made up my mind unwillingly. "Fine come in."
Christina and Shane came in and sat down in the living room.
The sour memories that included Shane burned my eyes, it now contaminated the clean air, disguising itself as molecules of tear provoking dust.
My peripheral sight allowed me to see Shane's eyes fixed on my poise.
Christina's eyes fluttered from mine to Shane's and decided to spark a conversation to break the uncomfortable silence. "Soo.....Why'd you call?"
"I just....didn't want to be alone, I guess."
In that moment Christina's cell phone rang loudly to a techno melody. "It's my boyfriend I have to take this one." She stood up and casually brushed her black skinny jeans. "I'll be right outside if you need me." She left too soon she was in a rush to leave the moment, the door slammed behind her.
I kept my head directed at Christina's ghost. I forced my wandering eyes to keep still, and my body was tensed frozen in a stiff position, I had no desire to look at Shane.
"Stop playing around Violet." His voice irritated, but maintained smooth.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I folded my arms against my chest. Shane began to speak and I began to hum loudly, drowning out everything he was trying to tell me. I felt like a five year old acting this way, but I had no interest to listen.
My curiosity might as well killed me, I slowly swiveled my head. Shane's face was a nose away. Instead of immediately moving back, I moved slowly just to refocus my eyes at the close distance between us, a crooked smile was hot on his lips.
I didn't notice when the gap between us was even smaller, until I felt his lips on mine.
The door suddenly swung open to a shocked Christina. "I'm ba....oh gosh! umm I'll leave you guys alone." She stammered through her words and quickly closed the door again.
My embarrassment went on override and a smile was plastered on my lips.
I recovered my anger with a sour frown and tightened my fist and swung it towards Shanes face.
He chuckled. "Ow?" I was surprised it didn't cause a wince of pain, and mad at that fact.
"Ow!" I looked at my now red hand, scorching with pain.
