[Holodeck - Sandrine's]
Kes enters. It is dark and quiet.
"Hello? Anybody here? Neelix?" Kes asked.
The lights come on.
"Surprise!" Everyone yelled.
"Surprise! Happy birthday, my sweet." Neelix said.
"Happy birthday, Kes." Janeway and Amanda said in sync.
"Imagine, two years old today. If you ask me, you don't look a day over one." Neelix said.
"Why was everyone hiding?" Kes asked.
"Oh, it's an old Earth custom called a surprise party." Tom answered.
"Sorry if we startled you." Amanda said.
"No, I liked it. It was very exhilarating." Kes replied.
"Now, how about a glass of my special birthday punch? Garçon?" Neelix asked.
The bartender is the EMH, in beret and smock.
"On the rocks or straight up?" the Doctor asked.
"Doctor! I'm so glad you're here." Kes said.
Sandrine drapes herself over the EMH's shoulders.
"My new bartender. Handsome, isn't he?" Sandrine asked.
"Each to their own." Amanda muttered.
"I'm here in an official capacity, of course. In case of a medical emergency." said the Doctor.
"Emergency?" Kes asked.
"Surprises have been known to cause acute hyperventilation, oesophageal spasms and in extreme cases, even coronary arrest. One can never be too careful." the Doctor explained.
"Doc, Kes didn't come for a medical lesson, now can I have Whiskey?" Amanda asked.
[Bridge]
"I've completed the sensor diagnostic, Lieutenant. All systems are fully operational." said Harry.
"Very good, Ensign." Tuvok replied.
"And I've recalibrated the accelerometer relays." Christina added.
"Acknowledged." Tuvok said.
"Is there anything else Chris and I can do for you, sir?" Harry asked.
"I presume this notable impatience is due to your desires to attend the festivities in Holodeck two?" Tuvok states.
"Yes, sir." Harry replied.
"May I remind you that your duty shifts do not officially terminate for another thirty four minutes? However, I believe the holodeck power conduits would benefit from a routine inspection, Lt. Robinson, you may join him." said Tuvok.
"Yes, sir! We'll get right on it." said Harry.
"All stop. Mister Kim, Miss Robinson." Tuvok said.
There is something fuzzy on the viewscreen.
"What is that?" Christina asked.
"Magnify. I am afraid that holodeck inspection will have to wait, Ensign, Lieutenant." said Tuvok.
[Holodeck - Sandrine's]
"Wait till you taste this cake. Seven layers of Jibelian fudge, and the icing is made from pureed l'maki nuts, Kes's favourite." said Neelix
"Now make a wish and blow out the candles." said Janeway.
"What do I wish for?" Kes asked.
"Anything your petit coeur desires, ma cherie. And with a figure like hers, she'll probably get it too." Sandrine said.
