[Planet surface]
Later, the crew are walking up into towards a range of hills, with an active volcano on the horizon behind them. Some are carrying pointed sticks. Ensign Wildman is carrying her baby, and staggers briefly. Commander Chakotay walks back to her.
"Let me help you." said Chakotay.
"No, really, I'm all right." said Wildman.
"Don't push yourself. That goes for everyone. Perspiring wastes water." said Chakotay to the group.
"We're on a planet that's as dry as the Sahara desert and you want us to not sweat?" Amanda asked dryly.
Christina chuckled.
Chakotay takes the baby from Wildman. There is a ground tremor. Captain Janeway leads them through a gap in the rocks. Christina and B'Elanna are walking beside each other when Christina nearly trips over a rock, B'Elanna grabs her hand to stop her falling but she keeps ahold on Christina's hand, Ayala and Amanda are walking together, Amanda's taken her uniform jacket off and wrapped it around her waist.
"All right people, follow me. Let's take it slow. This is the most defensible location we've seen so far. The overhang should provide us with shelter, and the breeze should keep insects away. All right, let's make camp." said Janeway.
[Outside tunnel entrance]
Meanwhile, Neelix's team is foraging. Hogan is by a hole in the rocks that has a skeleton lying in front of it.
"Neelix, look at this. They almost look constructed. Maybe the people on this world are cave dwellers." Hogan suggested.
"If that's true, I'd say this is a do-not-disturb sign, wouldn't you? They look humanoid. We might be able to use these as tools or weapons. Gather them up, Mister Hogan. Is there a problem?" Neelix asked, seeing Hogan's face.
"No, sir. Do you want all of them?" Hogan asked.
"Waste nothing. That's one of the first rules of survival." said Neelix.
Neelix drops the thigh bone he has picked up and leaves Hogan to his task.
"Neelix, over here!" a crewwoman called out.
Something rushes along the tunnel to the cave entrance. Hogan screams. When Neelix and others get there, he is gone.
"Hogan!" Neelix yelled.
[Shuttlecraft]
"Computer, repeat stabiliser diagnostic." said Tom.
"Damage has been detected in the stabiliser acceleration sensors." said the Computer.
"I just repaired the acceleration sensors." said Tom.
"Warning. Vessel approaching on intercept course." said the Computer.
"Signature?" Tom asked.
"Kazon patrol vessel." said the Computer.
"Damn it! I don't have time for this." said Tom annoyed.
They start shooting at him.
"I don't have time for this! Computer, all stop. Engage impulse." said Tom.
It takes three shots to destroy his attacker.
"I told you, I don't have time for this." Tom said mostly to himself.
[Camp]
Night is falling.
"That's all that's left of Hogan's uniform, Captain. We didn't find anything else." said Chakotay.
