12: Time's Running Out

Hawks x enji scene at the end of the chapter.

3rd person pov:

After the weekend. Both heroes return to work. Hawks catches villians in his route. One day while passing over a deserted part of town. He sees dabi glaring up at him from a rooftop. Yet the hero keeps flying. Ignoring the villian. Then he gets a call. When he checks. He sees that it's enji.

Haw:"ayo!"

Enji:"Just checking in. Is everything good?"

Haw:"Other than a few pests. Everything is normal on my end."

Enji:"That's good to hear. Wanna meet up for lunch?"

Haw:"Sure thing."

Enji:"I'll text you when I'm free from training."

Baku:"Eyes on us bastard!"

Enji:"*sigh* these kids."

Haw:"Got your hands full?"

Enji:"Shoto is great, but the blonde is too violent, and deku doesn't know how to use his own quirk. It's as if he wasn't born with it."

Haw:"You'll figure it out. Just give them time, and a push in the right direction. Oops, got another call. It's from twice."

Enji:"Be careful."

Haw:"I will. Kiss kiss."

Hawks hangs up and answers twice.

Haw:"Hee ello."

Twi:"Where are you? We're having a meeting? Are you on the toilet? Grows. Just get here. Bring coffee!"

Haw:"You got it."

Hawks heads to the warehouse with coffees for him and twice. He sits opposite from dabi at the table and after the meeting. Hawks talks to twice.

Haw:"Would you ever do life over if given a chance?"^I gotta get closer to him and convince him to change. That way I won't have to kill him.^

Twi:"Probably. Then again I wouldn't have met my new family. We wouldn't be friends aswell. Fuck being normal!"

Dabi:" Hawks we need to-"

As dabi reaches for hawks. He grips air. As Hawks walks forward to talk to twice. Leaving the villain behind.

Hawks briefly glances back to glare. That's when he sees dabi grinding his teeth.

Twice leans in close to whisper.

Twi:"What happened between you two?"

Haw:"I'll tell you after the attack. We don't need in fighting before the mission."

Twi:"Did he hurt you? I'll kick his ass."

Haw:"Stand down. It's over now. So let it go. Now can you help me understand where I fit in the attack?"

Twi:"Okie dokie."

Dabi leaves, causing Hawks to breathe a sigh of relief.

They talk late in the night.

Meanwhile, as enji trains the three students. Bakugou looks up after endeavour gets off the phone.

Baku:"Oi! I think that's for you."

Enji looks up to see a letter with his name on it. As it passes the sun. He sees writing, but when he snatches it. He only sees a drawing.

A bird with wings and tail ripped off, legs broken and beek taped shut while surrounded by flames. A dark figure looms over with an ax.

Enji holds it up to the light to see the message.

<I hired the little lark to sing, but instead. It bit me. Now that it has sung to another. I'll take what's left. It'll never sing to you again.>

Enji looks around frantically.

Izu:"What's wrong?"

Enji:"Find dabi. He's around here somewhere."^If we don't find him fast. He'll attack Hawks again.^

As they search. No one finds any signs that he was there. When enji tries to text or call enji. There's no response, because his phone is turned off.

Enji:"Fuck."

As enji is about to take off in search. He gets a text. It's a selfish of him smiling with twice.

Haw:<He left. So I'm hanging with a friend. I'll be home for dinner.>

That night twice uses a portal to drop Hawks off by his house. In view of enji looking out of the window.

Twi:"I got your back if you grab mine. That's not how it's said. It's you scratch mine and I pinch yours. Idiots your both wrong. It's actually-"

Haw:"Safe travels to you aswell. Next time I'll bring some sweets."

Tei:"Aww. Strawberry flavored? Are you hitting on me? I'm flattered, but I don't fly that way. Your hot!"

With a wave. Hawks flys away while twice argues with himself.

When hawks is about to unlock the door. Enji opens it and pulls him into a hug.

Enji:"Every time you go. I worry that I'll never see you again. "

Haw:"I'm alright. Now, let's eat. I'm starving."

As Hawks opens the fridge to find something to cook. He finds an old bento box.

Haw:"This isn't good anymore."

As he opens to dump it. He sees a note.

<I know you aren't wanting to talk about your troubles, but know that I'll love you no matter what. You're my reason I wake up every morning. The fuel to my fire, and hopes to have a beautiful future by your side. I'd give up being a hero for you.>

Enji:"need some help?-"

Enji sees Hawks crying while smiling.

Haw:"Let's over take out. I'll need my energy for afterwards."

Hawks smirks, causing enji to blush.

Enji:"If that's what you want, sir."

After eating dinner. Hawks puts on a movie.

during the movie. Hawks slips between enji's legs. He then unzips and reveals enjis cock.

Enji:"Are you sure?"

Haw:"I want this more than you could ever know."

Hawks goes down. Causing enji to whimper.

Hawks chuckles and reveals that he's been sucking on ice. As his mouth warms up. Enji leans back behind his head. Trying not to grab Hawks head.

Haw:"Good boy. Now lay down for me, please."

Enji does so and hawks undresses him from the waist down. Then as they make out. Hawks preps for entry. When he feels the time is right. He goes to enter only to stop.

The blonde freezes as memories flood in of what davi had done. Causing a panic attack. So enji pulls him in close.

Enji:"He can't hurt you. I've got you. Let's just watch the movie and relax."^I wish I could do more to help, but this is all I know to do. That fucker is gonna regret ever hurting you. They won't find his ashes when I'm done.^

That night, Hawks cries himself to sleep while enji rubs his back.

The winged hero repeatedly apologizes until sleep takes him.
