My heart temporarily stops when we reach my child hood home, memories surge of the tears and pain I experienced on the four corners of this house. I take a deep breath pacing to the front door to get this over with so I could go back to the hotel room and snuggle with my boyfriend since he's at the hotel.
I told August that this was my battle to fight, maybe coming here would give me the closure that I needed all this years or for me to finally walk away from it.
The door sounds draws me back to reality, my eyes meet a pair of brown eyes staring at me lost of words
"Baby, indigo. You're here". My mother swoons, the delight in her eyes makes me calm down a little. She wraps her slender arm around me and Aurora, her sweet lemon poundcake perfume tickling my nose"Aurora, how are you love? Do you want some cookies? Do you like cookies?". Her excitement evident in her tone.
Aurora simply nods, mom pulls her in and lifts her in my arms before she takes her inside. I follow, the house has not changed even a little bit from how it was all this years ago, I didn't expect it to because my dad hated change"Where's John?". I asked my mom, it's better to call him his name than father.
She looks away from Aurora beaming with joy
"He's in the backyard with your brother and sister. Come on Aurora, shall we see grandpa?". She beams taking me to the backyard.I looked at the sight of my father and my siblings together digging holes, my dad loved to gardening
"John, look our first grandchild". Mom calls his attention, his green eyes meet mine alone with my siblings."Indigo! Aurora". My sister squeals, she runs towards me and jumps on me. I stagger back from her weight suddenly jumping on me.
"You're in Canada? God I missed you so much". My sister cooes, she goes on and on about how much she misses me but my eyes never leaves my dad.
"Ashley, step away from her". He finally voices out
My brother walks up to me and gives me a quick hug before he takes Aurora from my mother's hand."I thought I told you that I didn't want to see your face or that mistakes face in this house ever?". My heart aches, how dare he calls her a mistake
"I don't care what you call me but watch whatever you call my daughter, I won't tolerate name calling towards her".
"Then you should have not brought her here, what do you think that I will accept her with open arms even when her dad didn't". He barks, I flinched.
"Hey, my daddy loves me". Aurora remarks.
"For your information, her father knows she exists and he's utterly in love and accepts his daughter". I feel a nudge from Ashton asking to verify this info.
"You know the father and you didn't say it all these years? Indigo". This was the first time he called my name.
"Telling you his name would have not let you throw me out all this years in the cold or treat me like shit
or you never looking back to see if I was alive"."I can't raise a daughter who willingly opened her legs for a man who dumped her and left her with a kid". Digust for him runs through my body.
"I couldn't tell you because when you found out, you already beat me to death while I was pregnant. You said disgusting words to me and you threw me out of the house in the cold when you found out, so how/".
"Who's the father of the child, Indigo!". He grits
"August Costello".
His composure calms down"The hockey player?". Ofc he would know him, he was a fan of hockey.
