An hour later, we finished walking around the park after grabbing ice cream, Eunbyeol and Sunghoon were mostly conversing, and I was just thinking about going home and not seeing Sunghoon.
I was just hoping for some miracle that his phone would ring and that he'd have to go, but such thing didn't exist.
"Hey, Nari, what time does Jungwoo come back from work?" Eunbyeol suddenly mentioned, this was definitely part of her plan too.
I cursed at her internally, giving a light groan before answering. These two were literally working with each other just to get me to cheat, who knew my own best friend would condone something like this?
"Don't know, he said he'd be home later." I shrugged, replying with a monotonous vibe.
"Oh, perfect!! Come on Lea, let's go back to Nari's." Eunbyeol held Lea's hand, she was probably so tired from this whole day, but nonetheless, she still gave a squeal of excitement.
"What? Back to mine??" I shot my head to look at Eunbyeol, and she just gave me another one of those sinister smiles.
"Uh, yeah? What, did you think you could get rid of me after two hours? Absolutely not." Eunbyeol scoffed as Sunghoon gave a chuckle.
Lea began to slow her steps down, eyes flailing open and closed. Sunghoon gave such an endearing smile, looking down at her.
"Here." Sunghoon crouched down as we stopped, letting Lea go onto Sunghoon's back. She held on gently around his neck, her head comfortably resting on one of his shoulders as he held her up.
And just like that, she fell asleep. I looked over at Eunbyeol, trying so hard to resist a smile, and she looked at me too, a smile on her face.
The two of us thought the exact same thing in the same moment, but neither of us were gonna say it out loud right now.
"Ah, I remember when you used to run around corridors with Nari on your back, the headteacher would always chase you because you were disrupting people." Eunbyeol just had to mention another memory.
I thought back to the time when he used to do that, we were really stupid kids. Never got up to any good, and people probably hated us for being so annoying.
But regardless, I had a good time with him, and every day was fun, there was not a single day that was repetitive, or a day that dragged by as slow as it did nowadays.
I sighed, looking to the ground as the two reminisced over the past memories. I actually wonder how life would look if we never had that stupid argument - it was really dumb - I should've just let him stay with Mirae and let him figure it out himself.
But no, being hard-headed, I clearly couldn't keep my mouth shut. But then again, it wasn't solely my fault, what sane person trusts a person you've been dating for like a month over a person you've been friends with for years?
Exactly.
That thought just seemed to evoke a little more frustration in me, and upon hearing Sunghoon's voice in the conversation between Eunbyeol and him, I found my reason to, again, hold a grudge against him.
"There was a day where we were getting chased by a teacher for skipping last lesson, I pushed Nari into the boys' bathroom and we sat in there like idiots, surprisingly we didn't get caught." Sunghoon mentioned a memory that I vividly could remember.
That day I could remember without even thinking about it. I can just remember his baby-face, and his haircut, and the uniform we wore, the laughs and giggles that came from us, the way he covered my mouth.
Everything, I could list you every detail.
And just as a smile was about to form, I received a text, the two of them shot their heads towards me, wondering who it was.
I looked at my phone, and I closed my eyes for a split second, hating the world right now. It was a message from Jungwoo, and by the looks of it, it wasn't an exciting message either.
jungwoo: what are we eating today?
jungwoo: can you make dinner a little later since im coming home later?
I rolled my eyes, turning my phone off and ignoring the message, but clearly, neither Eunbyeol or Sunghoon could ignore it.
"Who was that?" Eunbyeol eagerly asked, hope sparkling in her eyes.
"Jungwoo." I bluntly told her, facing forward with a cold expression.
"What'd he say?" Sunghoon inquired too, literally why did I have two people asking me questions left and right.
"What's for dinner." I gave the same sharp response, not sparing a single bit of emotion as I spoke.
"Pfft, fuck your boyfriend." Sunghoon gave a scoff, shaking his head lightly as Eunbyeol gave a sigh.
She was probably holding back the urge to tell me to just break up with him and get with Sunghoon, but with the presence of Sunghoon himself, she couldn't.
I cannot just break up with my boyfriend of three years because there's a new fine ass guy in my life - that is just unjust.
