JULIA'S HOUSE; 7:27 amMy Dad had enrolled me and Lucas to Lacey High with Haley. Lucky for me, Brady goes there too. So i won't be a complete loner when Haley wasn't around. I wouldn't force her to stick by my side because I know she has other friends too and other things to do. So I tell her I'm able to manage on my own so she wasn't to worried about me.
I push open the double doors of the entrance, next to Haley and Lucas. We walk in together before having to part ways to attend our respective classes. Lucas was a sophomore, a year below us, so he had to be in the other side of the building. Haley was a junior like me but we had different classes right now. She had Maths while I had homeroom which wasn't starting in 30 more minutes.
Since I had time to spare, I decided to text Brady and ask him where he was and if we could meet up. He told me to meet him by the cafeteria. I struggled a little but finally found it. I see him, sitting at a bench in the cafeteria with his airpods in. He looks different from when I last saw him.
I tap on his shoulder as he removes one side of his airpods, looking up at me.
"I'm sorry do I know you?" He asks, after staring at me blankly for a moment. My face srunches up in confusion.
"What are you talking about-" I stop mid-sentence as I see Brady walk into the cafeteria. What?
"Sab!" He waves as he walks up to me. I tilt my head still slightly confused about the clone of him sitting right in front of me. Was this jet lag?
"Oh right, I forgot to mention. I have a twin brother, this is Connor," He introduces, pointing to his brother.
"Hi," I say cheerfully. He nods, merely acknowledging me. I purse my lips awkwardly before I brush it off, hugging Brady after not having seen him in a long time. How did I not know he had a twin. We had been friends for 2 years.
We pull away and I notice Connor is gone. We talked for a while until I had to go for my next class.
I had some trouble finding the classroom I was supposed to go to, resulting me to be 5 mins late. That's so embarrassing to be late especially on your first day.
I nervously stroll in to the classroom as all eyes turned on me.
"Ms James?" The teacher reads out from the attendance list. I nod. He motions for me to introduce myself to the class.
"I-I'm Sabrina James," I introduce myself.
"Very well then. Please take a seat next to Mr Noon," He points to the brunette boy sat in the back row of the class. I walk between the rows of tables as I finally reach my seat.
I tap my fingers against the edge of the table as I look around the classroom, with nothing else to do.
"Can you not do that? Thanks," Connor asks, annoyed.
"Sorry,"I apologise, placing my hands on my lap.
"What class do you have next?" I ask, trying to make conversation. Since he is Brady's twin I think it was fine.
"Math," He answers, shortly.
"Oh, me too," I reply, in a cheerier tone than his.
He doesn't say anything else other than nod. I notice he tends to do that a lot.
Soon, we were dismissed for our next class. I wasn't sure where the Math classroom was so I just followed behind Connor.
Students came piling in as I was left to enter last. The teacher, stops me, asking my name before introducing me to the class. I had a feeling this is how most of my classes would start from now on.
She tells me to take any empty seat in the classroom. I pick a seat behind this brunette girl.
"Hi, I'm Val," She turns around. I smile at her, not introducing myself as the teacher had already done so.
She seemed nice. She made the effort to turn around every once in a while to check up on me and to make me feel more welcomed. I really appreciated it because at the moment I was really missing Penn High, and my old friends.
After Math, I had a few more classes before it was lunch. I didn't have anyone to sit with because Haley did not have the same lunch as me that day. To my luck, Brady invited me to sit with him and his friends.
He waves me over to his table. I recognise a familiar face; Val. I take a seat next to her as Brady introduces me to his friends.
Oliver, Jackson and Lydia. Connor joins the table shortly after. He seemed annoyed at my presence. I'm not sure why though. Did I do something wrong? I try shrugging it off as I listen to their conversation.
"Quit drooling lover boy," Val teases as she sees Brady looking distracted. I turn to see who he was looking at. A few tables down was Haley and her cheer friends.
"I'm not drooling. Plus she's dating Ethan," He drags out his name out in a distasteful manner.
"You know Haley?" I ask, curiously.
"Do I know her? I've liked her since forever, she's the girl I told you about," He breathes out. "Wait how do you know her?"
"She's my stepsister," I explain. "And what's so bad about Ethan?"
"He's only like the worlds biggest bop," Connor replies. He had stayed silent for a while so I was slightly suprised when he answered me.
"Yeah, I don't know why she's with a guy like that when she deserves so much better," Brady sighs.
"Yeah like who? You?" Lydia suggests with a teasing smile on her face.
Oliver and Jackson laugh along making childish kissy faces at him. He just rolls his eyes, dismissing their childish behaviour.
Soon, the school day comes to an end. I can't believe I actually completed it without dipping half way. I think I can get use to this.
