The scent of pancake batter and fresh fruit filled the air as I walked downstairs. I see plates of pancake stacks set around the table and my dad and Julia dancing. I softly laugh to myself at how cheesy they are. Julia notices me and smiles.
"Good morning sweetheart!" She greets cheerfully. She gestures for me to take a seat and eat. It been quite a while since we've had a full family breakfast. So this really made it feel real. I still have yet to process that we are going to haves new additions to our family but moments like these are what makes me okay with it.
Lucas comes waltzing down the stairs, with his hair a mess and still in his pyjamas.
"Gross,did you not shower," I scrunch my face in disgust at my younger brother.
"Nope," He purposely gets closer to me to annoy me causing me to push him away. He just walks away with a smug look on his face as he had successfully annoyed me.
Haley then comes in to the kitchen dressed in her red and black cheer uniform; the school colours. She had her hair tied in two pigtails with red ribbons wrapped around them. She smiles sweetly showing off her cheekbones.
"Good morning!" She chirps, grabbing a pancake off the plate taking a bite.
"Alright let's all sit and have a nice breakfast together," My dad claps his hands together, walking over to the dining table.
"Sabrina, have you decided what college you wanna go to yet?" Julia asks before taking a bite of her pancakes.
"Mm, yeah i've been thinking of yale like my dad," I reply.
"That's amazing!" She says, she then tells me how Yale would be as perfect school for me.
"That's so Rory Gilmore coded," Haley jumps in. I chuckle,agreeing with her.
"You've been thinking about UCLA right?" I recall her telling me this one of the nights we had stayed up talking. She nods as she can't open her mouth and speak with it being full of food.
"You know Brady is thinking of going there too. I think you would make good friends," I slyly input, aware of the crush the boy had on my sister.
"He's kinda cute," She says. I raise my eyebrows.
"Don't you have a boyfriend though..?" I ask. I don't really care I've met her boyfriend and I agree with Brady, she deserves so much better.
"Doesn't change the fact that he's cute tho," She shrugs. I make a mental note to tell Brady about this later knowing he might actually go insane.
"I've been trying to find a job to pay for Yale but so far there hasn't been much job opportunities,"
"Well your father was actually going to head down to Cedar Creek Golf Course today. They are always looking for extra help, I've seen many teenagers work there," Julia suggests.
"That would be great bean! You could come down and check it out with me today and see if you're interested," My dad says. I agree though I hate being outside but what other choice do I have if I can't even find a job.
"Do you wanna come too Luke?" My dad turns to him.
"Nah i'm good, I'm hanging out with Madison,"He answers. We all turn to glance at each other.
"Who's Madison?" I ask with a slight teasing tone.
"Madison Noon, she's from my class,"
"Wait is there any chance she has brothers named Brady and Connor?" He nods.
"Yeah how'd you know?"
"We're friends. They're like super overprotective of their sister, you know,"
"Yeah which is why we don't usually hang out much."
"Aww do you like her Luke," Haley teases in a sing songy voice.
He rolls his eyes, leaving the kitchen. We laugh at how annoyed he was that we teased him about liking Madison.
"Oh! Girls next week we're going to go bridesmaid dress shopping ok?" Julia beams. I love how excited she was to pick out our dresses.
"Can I join," My dad jokes.
"Girls only sorry not sorry babe," Julia pats his shoulder before helping to clear the empty plates. My dad stands up and helps her too.
I watch as they wash the dishes together, playfully splashing each other with water. I'm sure i've mentioned it a million times but I had never seen my dad so happy. I love that.
