Forgotten memories (L Lawliet x reader)

Taskforce #6

You looked at the large building before you. You were in front of what you could assume was the headquarters. You were brought in here along with your younger brother by your father.

You all stepped into the elevator as it started going up on its destination. There was an awkward silence until you reached your required floor.

You were greeted by a kind looking old man who introduced himself as 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘪. He flashed a gentle smile at you and you did the same. You couldn't help but feel like you have seen Watari before as well but thanks to your memories of the last four years gone, you couldn't remember. As he escorted you all to the highly secured headquarters where you would be meeting L once again, you drifted to your thoughts.

It's likely you may have seen Watari
and L before as you had worked with L on a few cases back then which unfortunately you were not able to recall at the moment. However everyone knows that L is extremely secretive, even Watari. L can only be contacted through Watari and Watari always comes fully covered from head to toe so it's unlikely you saw them. However it's weird how you can feel some sort of connection towards both of these people.

Your thoughts were interrupted as you heard the ting sounds of the door, before entering Watari gave you a fake police ID with a fake alias '𝘒𝘪𝘬𝘰 𝘈𝘴𝘢𝘩𝘪'. You were amused at the fact that kiko is an alias you thought of using for your detective work then it hit you. You had worked for L before, it's likely you used this alias a lot of times so they just made an ID with it for you.

"I figured you would choose this alias thereby I prepared this fake police ID that you would be needing for this case with your signature alias kiko" Watari finished as he flashes you a warm smile, you smiled back genuinely as you put the ID over your neck.

"Thank you Watari!" You exclaimed happily.
"My pleasure"

"We are here" your father said as he let Watari open the door for you all and you all stepped inside.

Stepping inside, you notice that the headquarters was rather huge, you could see long hallways connected to the main room that you were currently in. You noticed L was already here along with four other men whom you assumed were the other taskforce members. You recognized two of the members among them although 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 seemed to know you. You felt a little guilty for only remembering a few of them.

You looked at Aizawa and Mogi as you recognized them, you remember seeing them often at the NPA whenever you would visit your father and these two were much like a father figure to you as well. You noticed that they smiled gently at you as you did the same.

"Everyone this is my son and daughter, they will be working here with us"
Your father told everyone as everyone's attention turned towards you all.

"Welcome, let's introduce ourselves to the new faces shall we?" L says in his usual deep monotone voice.
"I'm Ryuzaki" L says plainly while his attention diverted to a stack of sugar cubes.

"I'm Matsui"
a bright young man said, he seemed to have stars in his eyes as he looked at you, you just smiled and nodded awkwardly waiting for others to introduce themselves as well.

"I'm Aizawa"
"Mogi"
"Ukita"
"I'm Asahi" your father said in a serious tone.

𝘈𝘩 𝘴𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘈𝘴𝘢𝘩𝘪 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮.

"Then I'll be Light Asahi" Light said as everyone now looked at me.

"I'm kiko Asahi" you said.

You looked towards L who was already looking at you, he had small smile on his lips which was almost unnoticeable but being a detective, it was easy for you to notice as if he wanted you to notice. Your cheeks heat up unknowingly, you felt so nervous and intimidated near L. You couldn't understand why, was it because you looked up to him or was it something else.

"Miss Kiko I'd like to personally interview you to insure that you are not Kira and can be trusted" L said in his monotone voice.

you agreed since you knew that everyone here was personally Interviewed or Interrogated as you saw it but you didn't mind, It was necessary after all.

You were now in a room alone with L. You were sitting face to face with L while L sat in his signature bizarre pose before you, sipping tea occasionally.

For a while he just stared at you, you couldn't tell what kind of stare though. You knew for a fact L had no reason to suspect you so you were quite laid back. Finally L spoke.

"Miss Kiko I believe you know very well that I don't suspect you of being Kira, the odds of you being Kira are none"

"Yes I know that" you responded confidently yet calmly. After all he did say you're one of the few agents he can trust.

"Then why did you agree to this interview?" L asked rather calmly as he put his thumb finger to his lips, he was observing you now.

"Because it's...you L.. I trust you" you said sincerely as you notice that L's gaze has softened a little.

"I see" L said simply, he was probably not expecting that.

"I am glad that you put something in me that the task force members have not been able to yet" L said as he took another sip of his tea which definitely contained an ungodly amount of sugar.

"....And what is that?" You ask rather curiously.

"Trust" L said simply as he looked up at you from his tea.

You were a bit taken aback. L was not trusted among the task force members? You could see why people may assume that, his methods of justice may sometimes seem questionable to normal people however to you, you could always see through the reasons for those questionable choices. You knew L didn't do anything harsh deliberately, he had to do them sometimes because of desperate measures.

He suddenly flashed you a soft smile which was way more noticeable than the previous one as if he had just read your mind.

"Your thoughts towards me were the same back then as it is now and I am glad that nothing much has changed"
L said with a little seriousness as he seemed to talk about Your accident which caused you to lose your memories.

"Thank you (Y/n) for always 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 in me" L said as he smiled gently at you and you returned the smile as the familiar pink pigment made it's way to your cheeks. This was the first time L had dropped the honorifics with you and you loved it for some reason.

"You have passed the interview, let's go back to the task force miss Kiko. I believe you have a lot to catch up on"
L said as he got up and walked out of the room without another word. You slowly got up and followed him into the main room where the task force members were.
