Forgotten memories (L Lawliet x reader)

You were driving your brother and his girlfriend to the taskforce. They had been all about outside, probably looking for the second death note.

Although you doubt Misa had any memories of the death note, you had removed the piece of paper from Light's watch and the death note was in the taskforce's possession, the other death note was removed by one of L's associates so it was in L's possession.

However being reminded of Misa's unusual love and loyalty to your brother, you guessed she'd tag along to whatever he told her.

You were nervous but it all went away when you noticed Light sneakily glaring at you.

He knew you removed that piece of paper.

You didn't care. You knew he had no remorse and whatever was going to happen in the next few hours would be what he truly 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘥.

You stopped in front of the familiar taskforce building. It was different today.

It was likely the last day you'll be spending here since the Kira case is about to end.

Entering the building and going through all the security checks, you and your brother finally made it to the rooftop. Misa tagged along but was stopped by Watari so she couldn't come.

"......"

"Nee-chan.. I know you took it" Light whispered in your ears as he continued walking behind you.

His voice was 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨.

You just looked at Light discreetly and acted like you didn't know what he was talking about.

He lowly chuckled before he spoke again.

"There's still time Y/n, join me"

You could tell by the tone of his voice, he was getting angrier each passing second.

Before he could threaten you further, you both reached the rooftop.

Upon arrival, you both came face to face with all the taskforce members.

All of them except for L, seemed 𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘳𝘺.

Soichiro Yagami sighed as he spoke.
"Light... Do you have anything to say in your defense?"

"What?" Light asked being confused.

"Stop it Light, we all know you're Kira" Aizawa spat out.

Light looked towards you as you slowly looked back at him while you moved towards L so now everyone was surrounding Light as he stood alone at the corner.

"What are you talking about? I'm not Kira!" Light said trying to sound serious.

Something was wrong. It seemed like he was trying to hold in his laughter but why. He has no alibi.

Why is he so confident in himself?

Soichiro Yagami pulled out a pair of handcuffs as Light just scoffed.

"Really dad? You're going to arrest your own son based on some stupid lies that detective told you!?" Light spat out in anger.

"It's over Light Yagami" L finally spoke as he smirked at Light.

Suddenly Light looked towards the big clock hanging on a church building which was adjacent to the taskforce building.

He just stared intently at everyone.

"W-why is he looking at the clock?" Matsuda asked.

You noticed a strange man behind the door who was peaking inside, it seemed like Light noticed him earlier on. This was impossible. The security is very tight, there's no way this man could just get in like that unless.. He was deliberately lured in here.

𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵'𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘣𝘪.

You looked towards L and urgently motioned towards the door discreetly. He followed your gaze and just smiled at you gently.

The crazy man started counting, which was heard by everyone and alerted everyone. Everyone looked towards L who was very calm.

Surprisingly everyone remained silent as the only thing heard was the strange man's count down.

Silence.

Nothing happened.

Light's smile dropped as he saw everyone still standing, alive and breathing.

Suddenly Watari came from behind the strange man and knocked him out.

Light started panicking as all the taskforce members pointed their guns at him. Soichiro Yagami walked towards Light with the handcuffs.

L picked up the death note from the unconscious man's grasp. As he looked through the page, he saw everyone's name was written in there, except for Light's.

"NO YOU CAN'T DO THIS! I'M JUSTICE! SOMEONE HAD TO DO IT!"

Light yelled as his own father put the handcuffs on him. Trying to save himself, Light tried attacking Soichiro Yagami but was soon halted by a bullet that penetrated his arms. Matsuda.

"MATSUDA YOU IDIOT! THAT HURTS YOU JERK!"

"WHY ARE YOU ALL STILL ALIVE! MIKAMI! WAKE UP MIKAMI KILL THEM NOW!" Light continued screaming like a mad man as more police officers rushed in.

The most unbothered person was L who was just watching Light struggle with a cold smirk.

Light met eyes with L and glared daggers at him.

"I'LL KILL YOU L!!"

L just chuckled and let the police and paramedics tend to Light since he was shot. L won't let Light die so easily, that would be too lenient.

You just watched the whole thing go down with an emotionless face. Occasionally Light would look at you. Sometimes you would see a glimpse of your younger brother in his eyes filled with tears, anger, hatred, betrayed and agony.
