The wind blew at the port, taking me away from my spot and taking me away to the nearest adventures my cousin James always told me. I had to see him around a year or more due to his travelings but when he was coming back he always had more stories to tell me and my brother, Edward.

Edward and I were twins. As my mother always said to me, because he was half an hour older than me, I should always listen to him if my parents weren't there. But how would I have to act if I was alone from the start? If I was reborn away from here? From my hometown Ayr. Yeah, Scotland. My father is from Scotland. My mother? Well my mother is a long story of how the two met and at the end they got married and had me and my brother. But one thing is sure about her, she is from the Spanish Empire. Not from the colonies, no. She is from Spain itself.

As a true Scotch, my father has red hair. This made me and my brother to have a tint of red. But not the real red. No we weren't gingers as they called the natural red-haired. We had a tint of red and black, so our hair were dark red. My mother helped us with that as she had black hair, black eyes and the skin color of the Spanish people. All of these made me and Edward a little more special around the town. Not only because of these, but because we were the children of a very good soldier of the English Navy.

Our father was a little below the title of a general. No he was, let's just say, as the pirates would call him, the first mate of the Captain. He was a good swordsman and soldier and sometimes he would also tell us stories about his adventures he had with pirates. This thing didn't make me to want to be away from the sea. No, that made me more eager to travel through the sea and see lands that not many people have seen.

But as always, my mother was coming and told me that a young lady at my age should not just sit and think of all these things like pirates, the buccaneers or the privateering. She was always saying that when the time is right I would get married, bear my husband's children and then live peacefully for the rest of my life. Yeah... That depends on what fairytale you are reading before you fall asleep.

Privateering, what a nice word. This word always made me think of James. James was a privateer. At the age of fiftteen he left to support his family. Leaving behind an ill brother and his parents. James, just like me and Edward, he was half Scotch but half English man, and he didn't have any tint of red or anything making it not so easily to spot he was half Scotch. Even his accent was British due to his father. His mother and my father were siblings from Scotland but no one married anyone who was from Scotland making the next generation not to be true Scottish.

James and I had some years of difference. When I was born with Edward he was around fifteen. But he was always there if he wanted to play with us. Even now, at the age of eight when I see him I will run into his arms begging him to tell me a new story, a new adventure, how did he found a Spanish ship, or how did he survived a very strong storm with waves twice as tall as the ship's main mast.

I had my eyes closed and dreamt in front of the sea, how would it be if I went with James, if something happened and I ended up in the stories my father always told me about the beautiful women the pirates were taking only to have fun. Then a shout dragged me out of my daydream. Someone shout a 'ship is coming to dock'.

When I heard that I knew that it would be another ship from the Navy or with some merchants. I turned on my heels to leave but when I heard the name of the ship I froze. It couldn't be. I must be hearing things, I told myself. But then I heard someone on the docks telling "Aye! The Pearl came again after two year right?" the first voice said.

After that, another voice spoke and told him "Nay don't be silly. This ship has a little more than a year to come in our docks. I wonder what made the Captain to come again so soon" the second voice said, a little too harsh and older.
