Introduction

Inspired by true events

In 1327 Edward III was crowned king of England. In 1330 his wife Philippa was crowned Queen.

Together they have ruled with much success, loved by their people and court alike. They have seven surviving children, four of whom are sons.

Edward has begun the 100 years war in France, and Philippa has orchestrated many reforms within England. But the Black Plague has taken its toll on the war and on the nation, claiming the lives of three of their children.

The year is 1349, Edward and Philippa have no grandchildren, and with four growing sons most nations would be bracing for civil war as young ambitions struggle to be kept in check.
