Chapter 12

Y/N's POV-

As I made my way into the house, each step seemed heavier than the last, my leg throbbing with each movement. The familiar comfort of home surrounded me, but before I could fully register my surroundings, a voice rang out from the couch. It was Oppa, my elder brother, his expression etched with concern as he swiftly approached me. "Princess! What happened? How did you get hurt?" he exclaimed, his worries palpable in his voice.

I attempted to downplay the situation, murmuring, "Oppa, it's nothing, just..." But he wouldn't hear of it, his protective instincts kicking in as he scooped me up into his arms and began to ascend the stairs to my bedroom. With each step, his concern grew more apparent. "It's nothing? Seriously? Princess, just look at yourself," he said, his tone filled with both frustration and care as he saw my head bleeding through the bandages and gently laid me down on my bed.

He carefully placed me on my bed and tenderly asked, "Just stay here, I'll be back in a minute." With that, he swiftly left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I pondered over what excuse to give my brother about my injury. If I told him that Mr. Kim was responsible, the situation could escalate into something far worse. The last thing I needed was for headlines to scream "CEO Kim Taehyung Killed by his Employee's Brother" the next day. I shook off the unsettling thought, reassuring myself that my brother would never let anything happen to me. He loved me dearly, and I knew he would go to any lengths to protect me. Just then, Oppa returned to the room, holding a medical box in his hands.

He took off the bandage and carefully tended to my wounds, his touch gentle yet firm as he cleaned the cuts on my forehead. Concern laced his voice as he asked, "Tell me, princess, how did this happen?"

Stuttering slightly, I replied, "Um... I went to Incheon and got into an accident on a construction site." His eyes widened in alarm, and he questioned, "Incheon? Why?"

I explained, "I went there for office work, but something went wrong during construction, and a part of the building collapsed." With a mixture of relief and anger, he cupped my face and exclaimed, "Oh my god, princess! This much has happened, and you didn't care to tell me?"

I quickly reassured him, "Oppa, I wasn't in the building when it collapsed, so I didn't get much hurt. Emergency services treated my wounds on time, and I didn't want you to worry unnecessarily." Frowning at my response, he retorted, "Unnecessarily? Princess, you've been in an accident, and you think I'm not allowed to worry for you?"

As he applied a fresh bandage, I hurriedly explained, "I didn't mean that, oppa. Also, Mr. Kim took this as his responsibility and personally made sure I was checked by a doctor in a hospital." His demeanour softened at the mention of Mr. Kim, and he asked, "Mr. Kim, meaning your boss?"

Nodding, I replied, "Yes, oppa." He sighed, his worry easing slightly, and said, "Well then, I'm glad he took care of you, his employee. Thank him for me, will you?" Unable to refuse his request, I agreed, "Yes, sure, oppa."

He said, "Take care of yourself, my princess. If you need anything, just give me a call. You don't need to get off of this bed. Do you understand?"

I nodded and replied softly, "Yes, oppa."

With that, he left the room. I pulled the blanket over me and settled into bed. As I closed my eyes, my phone beeped, and I furrowed my brows, picking it up to see a text from Jungkook. He asked if I was free tomorrow, mentioning catching up. I smiled but quickly replied, "Sorry, Jungkook, but I can't meet you. I'm on bed rest, as per my brother's orders."

Before I could set my phone aside, it started ringing, and I answered to the call. Jungkook's voice echoed with worry and urgency through the phone as he bombarded me with questions. "What bed rest? Are you okay, Y/N? Has something major happened? Tell me!" His concern was palpable, each word laden with genuine worry for my well-being. I tried to calm him down, saying, "Oh god, Jungkook, just breathe. I'm fine, just had a little accident."
