Chapter 30

Author's POV-

In the conference room, the finance department employees, including Y/N, Hyunsoo, Jaehyun, Misoo, and Jin, gathered as Taehyung led the meeting alongside his PA, Irene.

Taehyung's voice resonated with authority as he announced, "We've secured a big international project with Mr. James Thatcher."

"Wow, that's fantastic news!" exclaimed Jaehyun, a spark of excitement in his eyes.

Misoo added her congratulations, her smile beaming as she said, "Congratulations, Mr. Kim! This is a huge achievement for our department."

Jin nodded in agreement, his expression proud. "Well done, Mr. Kim. Your leadership has really paid off."

"Furthermore," Taehyung continued, his voice drawing Y/N's attention back to the present, "I will need to travel to Jeju Island for a few days to attend the meeting regarding it."

Y/N's heart sank at the news of Taehyung's upcoming absence. She tried to mask her disappointment with a forced smile, but her eyes betrayed her true feelings.

Feeling her despondency, Hyunsoo leaned in and whispered softly into Y/N's ear, "Thank god, now Mr. Kim and his Ms. Irene will be gone for a few days. It would be a relaxation."

Y/N managed a weak chuckle in response, but inwardly, her mind raced with concerns. The idea of Taehyung being away, especially with Irene, stirred a mixture of jealousy and insecurity within her. She couldn't shake the nagging feeling that their relationship was being tested, and she feared what might happen in her absence.

Taehyung, ever perceptive, noticed a change in Y/N's expression. Sensing her worries, he addressed her directly. "Ms. Min, you will be the one assisting me while this project is going on. So, you will accompany me to Jeju Island tomorrow."

Y/N's eyes widened in surprise, and a genuine smile crept across her face. The unexpected opportunity to accompany Taehyung on the project lifted her spirits, momentarily overshadowing her earlier concerns. She nodded eagerly, a sense of excitement bubbling within her at the prospect of working closely with him on such an important venture.

Irene intervened, her voice poised but firm. "But Mr. Kim, as your PA, I should be the one assisting you."

Taehyung's response was decisive. "True, but for this project, it would be Ms. Min. I want to give her this opportunity. And I don't need any more discussion on this. And I hope Mr. Jin won't mind me stealing his assistant for this project."

Jin, showing his support, chimed in, "No, Mr. Kim, it's absolutely fine. Y/N is one of the best employees in the finance department. She will definitely not disappoint you."

Taehyung's gaze shifted to Y/N, a hint of pride in his eyes. "Yes, she never disappoints me," he said, causing Y/N to blush at the unexpected praise.

As the meeting drew to a close, Taehyung's voice cut through the chatter, stopping everyone in their tracks. "Y/N," he called out, his tone commanding yet gentle, "could you please join me in my cabin for a moment?"

Y/N's heart skipped a beat at the unexpected summons, but she maintained her composure and nodded in response. "Of course, Mr. Kim," she replied, her voice steady despite the flutter of nerves in her stomach.

With all eyes on her, Y/N rose from her seat and followed Taehyung out of the conference room, the weight of his request lingering in the air.

As they made their way to his cabin, Y/N couldn't help but feel a sense of apprehension. What could Taehyung possibly want to discuss with her in private?

Upon reaching his cabin, Taehyung motioned for Y/N to enter first before following her inside. Once they were both in the room, he closed the door behind them with a definitive click.
