"Why do I need to go to this camp? It's not going to help," Hongjoong said, his voice laced with irritation as he slumped in the back seat.

"Hongjoong, please! You've been absolutely horrible this year, and neither your dad nor I know why," his mom replied, her tone a mix of frustration and concern. "We're hoping this camp will help change your behavior."

"You know what else you could try?" Hongjoong shot back, his voice rising. "I don't know, maybe talking to your kid and finding out why they're so angry?"

"Excuse me? Don't talk to me like that!" his mom snapped, turning around in her seat to face him. "We do talk to you, but you just don't listen!"

"No, you don't! You're too busy comparing me to my sibling and turning everyone against me because I expose how much of a bitter jealous bitch you are!" Hongjoong retorted, his eyes flashing with anger. "I'm over it. Maybe this camp will give me time away from being with a horrible parent like you ."

The car's engine hummed to a stop, and Hongjoong barely waited for the final jolt before he unbuckled his seatbelt. Without a word, he grabbed his suitcase and backpack, his actions brisk and forceful, betraying his pent-up frustration.

"—Hongjoong—" his mother began, but he didn't give her a chance to finish. He pushed open the car door and stepped out, the sound of gravel crunching under his feet as he marched towards the camp entrance. His grip tightened around the handle of his suitcase, and he didn't look back, his mind set on the path ahead.

He could hear his name being called, but it barely registered. He was too consumed by his anger, a rage that pulsed through him like a living thing. Every step he took felt heavy with the weight of his frustration and resentment. How had it come to this? Living in a family that never seemed to understand him, always comparing him to his brother, leaving him feeling like a shadow of someone else. The constant comparisons had eroded his sense of self, leaving him struggling to grasp his own identity.

Because of their treatment, he spent the last couple of years working to become fiercely independent, earning his own money, and tirelessly working towards his dream career. He had poured his heart and soul into figuring out where he wanted to be by now, setting goals and striving relentlessly to achieve them. But the journey was made all the more difficult by the relentless nitpicking and negativity that surrounded him at home. Every criticism felt like a knife, cutting deeper and deeper into his resolve and it only hurt more because the one person he thought he had turned their back on him too.

In truth, he missed the relationship he once had with his brother. They had been close, inseparable even. But his parents had driven a wedge between them, turning his brother against him with their favoritism and manipulations. The bond they once shared was now strained, a casualty of their parents' toxic influence.

The thought of his brother brought a pang of sorrow amidst the anger. He longed for the days when they were allies, supporting each other against the world. Now, he felt more alone than ever, fighting not just for his dreams, but for a sense of peace that seemed increasingly elusive. The calls of his name faded into the background as he walked on, lost in his thoughts and the storm of emotions that raged within him.

They claimed Hongjoong had been difficult all year, acting as if they were completely baffled by his behavior despite his numerous attempts to explain. He had told them about the relentless harassment he faced at school, the cruel taunts and exclusion by his peers. But instead of offering support or understanding, they had dismissed his pain with a thoughtless remark: "You need to eat more. I don't know where you got your height from, but at least try to gain some muscle."
