"I've built empires, conquered markets, but her gaze still holds the power to make me feel like a novice."

Returning home felt like a relief, but the impending wedding added a layer of urgency to my already hectic schedule. I walked through the familiar halls, my butler dutifully taking my suitcase upon my arrival.

"Good day, Mr. Bezos," he greeted me with a respectful nod, "How was the trip?"

"Best one yet," I replied with a hint of satisfaction, though my mind immediately turned to thoughts of Eleanor.

"Good to hear, sir. Well, your fiancé is waiting for you in your office. She told me to deliver the message when you're here."

"Noted," I acknowledged, grateful for the heads up as I made my way to my office.

As I opened the door, I found Athena seated at my desk, her legs crossed as she focused on something on my personal computer screen. I closed the door behind me, walking over to her with a casual air, hands in my pockets.

"What are you up to, babe?" I inquired, a smile forming on my lips.

"Well," she replied, rising from her seat to greet me with a quick kiss, "I've been doing some planning. Since the wedding is so close, I thought it might be nice to throw a party at the company. We could invite our friends and colleagues. What do you think?"

I thought Athena's proposal for a moment, uncertain about adding more to my already packed schedule.

"I'll see what I can do to fit it into my schedule," I responded, trying to soothe her. "But I can't make any promises."

The air between us turned tense, neither of us knowing quite how to break the awkward silence that followed. My mind drew a blank, struggling to find a topic to divert our conversation.

"So..." Athena finally broke the silence, steering the discussion toward a topic that had become all too frequent. "I've been thinking about hiring some male assistants. I've had my eye on that Emily girl, but I have a bad feeling about her."

I couldn't help but correct her mistake. "Eleanor, not Emily."

"Don't correct me," she snapped, her gaze fixed on me. "You're a CEO with good intentions, and you understand how vulnerable women can be, especially working in such close proximity to you and your wealth."

"You want me to fire her just because she's my assistant?" I pushed back, frustration creeping into my voice. "She's the best one I've had yet, much better than the previous assistants."
