Chapter 9 - Rumors

The days come and they go, the hours fade into memories and minutes drop like flies on a hot summer day. I don't know how long I've been away from Klaus, I don't know how old I am and I don't know what year it is. Age is just a number, the year is just a number, times seems like a number. Years go by quickly and I lost track as I roamed the earth.

Over the years I have met many people, I've killed most of them, but there were a few loyal humans who have my respect. From my human allies, I ahve been informed of rumors abount a man who is trying to rid the city of Volterra of vampires. Not only is this man attempting to destroy the vampires, he is successful. Many vampires had gone there is search for answers and they were never seen again. Although my instincts told me not to, I was in the city to confirm or deny the rumors.

I couldn't help but admire the beauty of this fine city as I walked down the stone streets, my heels loudly clicked with each step.  The sky was cloud free and clearly showed the beauty of the full moon and bright stars. The night sky was similar to how it was the night I died, the night that made me who I am today.

The peace was broken with a scream to the right of me, immediatly I took after the sound. Down the alley in the shadows of an old building there was a there was a big male with pale skin. His skin was almost as pale as the moon, but what caught my attention were his ruby red eyes. In his grasp was a small girl who looked to be 10 years old. She had long golden hair and these green eyes, that reminded me of Stefan, but they were filled with terror.

"Get off her, you creep!" I yanked him off easily, if I were human I wouldn't have been able to do that. I didn't approve of killing children before they got a chance to live.

That's when I saw him. The male was inhumanly beautiful in a way that was unnatural and noticable, which was different from any vampire I have come across who had enhanced natural beauty. The male had sharp, razor sharp teeth that were prefectly white, he was snapping at my  His eyes were crimson red, like blood. He started to struggle and hiss at me which just pissed me off. I threw him at the stone wall, makeing the building shake and I pick up the young girl.

Whispering calm workds, I took off runing from the foreign enemy. I didn't want her to be injured any more that what she already was and I didn't want her to be a distraction. With ther girl's help, I was able to bring her back to her house. Compelling her, I made her forget about what happened so she would live a normal life.

As I walked away from the small house, I ran into a wall of man. It was the same man fromt he alley but his eyes were filled of anger and blood lust, instead of just blood lust. "You let her get away!" He twitched,  "How? Your just human!" Roaring he tried to grab me, but I moved out of his reach.

"So if I'm human, what does that make you?" I stepped closer to him, staying aware of his movements. From what I saw in the alley, I had the feeling that I was probably faster and stronger than him.

Without hesitation he answered, "Me? I'm a vampire."

"Sure you are."

"You don't believe me?"

"Why would I believe you? You seem like your insane." I started to taunt him, making him lunge at me and I pinned him down. "This is what a real vampire looks like." I said extending my fangs, veins showing under my eyes and I let out a feral hiss.

I easily bit his neck, but to my surprise he didn't have any blood. There was just this yucky clear stuff and I gave up on trying to drain him. Instead I decided to burn him, dragging his down the street to the fountain I grabbed a torch. Carefully I touched the flame to the man as they took over his body. The site of his death gave me a bubbly feeling in the pits of my stomach and I started to laugh evilly as I watched him burn and turn to ash.

During my hysterical fits of laughter, they must have arrived because I heard clapping and I turned to see a bunch of red eyes people dressed in black robes, they blended in with the night except the light from the flame illuminated them. So apparently there's more than one type of vampire, my kind and their kind. Instead of confronting them, like I usually would, I decided to run, to run away from the danger that radiated off them. To get away from the truth that lies ahead.
