Chapter 10 - Running Water

I finally got tired of roaming aimlessly and decided to settle down in London, England for it had been a public area where no sane vampire would try anything and the talk of the New World has insterested me. After so many years of listening, I wanted to go see what all the talk was about.

The only problem was the running water because I can't cross it, so how am I going to accomplished going there. Damn it!

The reason why running water hurts us is because it is pure in essence. Nothing could truely taint the water for it was apart of the earth, it is natural and will continue to exsist forever.

I could only think of two options. I could transform into a bird and try to fly across the ocean, but that would take to long and there were be no food for awhile for me or I could somewhat mummify myself in the boats and persevere myself by not drinking blood for awhile, my skin will become think and I will loose conciousness.

You would think it would be easier to fly, well actually it is, but I would need a blood supply of some sort. There was no way to do that without having to land, which would only hurt me to get close to the pure water.

To be mummified I could be like a mummy, all wrinkly and stuff, maybe even scare some people. I would be unresponsive and practically be dead. On a ship there would be a bood supply -the people on the ship- but I heard it's a pain to de-mummify.

Well actually I can cross running water, but it weakens me. Oh! I could pretend to be someone's daughter! Oh! Then I become 'ill' on the way over, when we finally get over there I get 'cured' and then I die maybe a year or two later. Yes! It's perfect plan! Now who to choose for my parents?

I sat there searching for the perfect family to take me to the New World. A blond man? Nope, I'm not blond and I don't want to act blond. A plump women? No way, never. That's not my style

Next to the boat, ready to board stood a happy couple.  The man who looked like me with brown hair and brown eyes accompanied by a women with reddish hair, they looked like a happy couple that would be great parents. I just decided that those people are going to be my parents for now.

Jumping from my position from the roof, I rushed behind them and fell into step with them. When they questioned me, I compelled them into thinking I was their daughter. Apparently their names were Charles and Isobel Fami.

Boarding our ship, I immediatly felt sick and took to our small area for rest. This was going to be a long trip.

Finally after eight very long weeks, we've reached land. I wasn't sure if it was the New World but I didn't care, I was sick of being on that ship.  I've been 'sick' the whole time, the blood of humans wasn't enough to make the pain go away and for that reason half of the passengers have bite marks all over them. I was unable to feed them my blood to make the marks fade. Now it was time for me to go see a doctor, my new family insisted.

"Isabella," the Doctor greeted me, setting his bag of tools down on the table. He looked young, was pale, like the man from the alley in Volterra but he had gold eyes and blond hair. "I'm Dr. Cullen."

"Hello."

"So how are you feeling?" he asked me.

"I'm fine now."

"I suspect that you were just sea sick. You should be fine now." he told me then explained it to my 'mom' while I waited, just glad that was over.

'Mom' invited Dr. Cullen to dinner (because he barely made her pay anything) and a young man she met in the market. Presumably, he was a suitor 'father' approved of. Knowing they wanted to marry me off to have alone time, my sickness didn't help my case either.

My 'mother' put me in a light green dress and curled my hair. She did my make up and put on my jewelry. The only thing she didn't touch was my necklace. "Now Isabella," Isobel said, "remember your manners. And please don't say anything if not spoken to."

"Yes mama."

"He'll be here soon, so don't ruin the dress."

"What's his name again?" I just had to ask.

"His name is Klaus Smith." she said. Whoa! That was the name we (Klaus and I) usually used in a new place.

Thinking it was him, I started to hyperventilate, "No! No, no, no, no!" I wasn't going to lose my freedom. No, never! Once Isobel was out of the room and I heard her start a conversation with Charles, I jumped out of the window, landed gracefully and ran to the stables. I didn't care about the dress, I just wanted to escape.

"Well, Isabella, we meet again." An all too familiar voice filled my ears, I turned around to see Klaus. He was as beautiful as ever, his blond hair tamed and pale in an elegant way. Blue eyes shining with love as he looked at me.

"Klaus." I hissed. I wanted to get as far away from him as I could. Especially after the way he talked about me to Katherine.

"Now, that's no way to speak to your husband." he said in a scolding tone and soon he was in front of me, forced to look down at me due to his height.

"You haven't been my husband for the last century."

"That's not my fault, you're the one that left me." He then crashed his lips to mine. I was easily caught in so much emotion, we had so much history. Seeing him brought out passion. I loved him and he loved me. Klaus had proven his love by finding me. I only left because I couldn't take the way he spoke about me to that blond about me and my dead brothers. I don't think I could ever forgive him for that and that's what made me pull away from his embrace. "I can't forget about the way you talked about me, like I wasn't even a person."

"Bella, I couldn't let her know how much you meant to me," he said, "she would just use you against me."

"I'm sorry but I can't be with you right now."

"Why not?" His voice was full of pain.

"Give me a 300 or so years to get over it."

He sighed. "Will that make you happy?"

"Yes." I answered. He kissed my forehead and said, "As long as you come back to me and your happy."

"Thank you." I whispered and kissed his cheek leaving no time to linger or change my mind, I transfornmed into a falcon. Flapping my wings I took off from that area leave Charles, Isobel, Dr Cullen and Klaus behind.

If you love someone, let them go and if it's meant to be they'll come back to you.
