Carmen's POV:I push some of Hope's sweaty hair out of her face and gently set a cold rag on her head as she sleeps. She whimpers in her sleep and I frown sadly.
"Oh Mija, I wish I could take your pain away. Those girls will come around soon. But for now, fuck them. You don't deserve this," I softly say even though she isn't awake to respond.
I ring out the rag in an empty bowl before dipping it into another one that has some ice and water then begin dabbing her warm face.
My ears pick up the sounds of the girls heading back home. Hopefully with some good news that will help Hope.
Their footsteps head towards the room and soon the door opens softly. I glance back finding the three staring at Hope with a concerned look.
"She fell asleep," Kate quietly says as she walks over to the bed and I nod slightly with a soft hum.
"Yes finally after forcing down a blood bag," I state glancing at the empty blood that's in her trashcan. I watch as Kate gently touch Hope's face and she hisses slightly while keeping her hand there.
"She's really hot. Is this normal?" She says frowning and looked at us with a look of worry.
"I believe it's one of the results of the rejection. I try to cool her down by the rag but it's only doing so much," I explain with a sigh and wring out the rag again before dipping it into the ice water bowl again and dabbed Hope's face again.
She whines in her sleep and her face takes on a discomfort expression while leaning against Kate's hand.
Kate pulls away and Hope whimpers making all of us frown in concern. "I'll be right back," Kate says and sped out of the room quickly.
"How did the chat with our cousins go?" I softly ask glancing at the two who moved closer to the bed with looks of concern.
"Good as can be, I suppose. We gave the girls just today to figure out their situation and return to Hope. If not we may have to call Rebekah and see what we can do to help her. Although I may just call them anyway with the state Hope's in," Tanya informs me and crossed her arms.
"That may be best, Tanya. We can't keep this from Rebekah and the family because then they may get mad at us," I respond with a sigh and wring out the rag again.
Kate came back changed into a shorts and a workout bra. We gave her a confused look at her dress attire.
"Hope needs to cool down and what better way than one of us holding her. Our body temp is the best thing for her right now," She explains sliding into bed and carefully grabbed Hope.
That makes sense. I set the rag down and helped Kate by moving Hope to lay directing on Kate. "She's like a furnace hitting me," she says with a wince and wrapped her arms around the younger girl who sighs softly.
"We'll go buy a fan for her," Irina announces and stood up from her spot on the end of the bed to grab ahold of Tanya's hand.
"On the way, I'll call Rebekah and explain the situation. Hopefully they will have a solution that will help her," Tanya adds making Kate and I nod at her.
They walk out and I turn back to my daughter. "Thanks for doing that, Kate. I didn't even think of that," I spoke up and gesture to her position.
She waves me off softly with a small smile, "there's no need to thank me, Carmen. I will do anything for my baby sister. This is nothing to me."
I smile gently at her. Hope has brought a certain warmth and joy that we didn't even know we were missing. All of a sudden we hear the front door of our home slam open.
