As if | Max Verstappen

today I had decided to go to a waterfall that was a few kilometers away from the villa we were in. Max had been a little unsure if he would come along so I prepared for a lonely day among forest, water and a nice view.

I went out to the living room where Max was sitting and checking his mobile. I started packing a bag with sunscreen, sunglasses and other essentials.

"where are you going?" Max asked.

"I said it yesterday, I'm going to a waterfall" I replied without looking at him because I was so busy packing my bag.

"without me?"

"You weren't sure if you wanted to come along"

"wait a few minutes and I'll change" Max said standing up.

I followed him with my eyes and when I couldn't see him anymore I took out my phone and watched some funny animal videos while I waited. I decided we should go by the market and buy some fresh fruit that we could eat when we got there.

Max came out of his bedroom and we were finally ready to go. I explained we were going to the market and he sighed but other than that he didn't complain. we started walking and today was the hottest day of the trip so far and I started sweating the second we got out into the sun.

we arrived at the market and we walked around and checked before we arrived at the same stall where I had bought the pineapple and mango before. I picked a pineapple, two mangoes and some bananas. I paid and realized we needed to buy water that we could drink.

Max complained that it was hot but I ignored it and moved on. after we were finally done in the market, we each took a moped and started driving. Max and I started racing against each other along the way. it was like nothing had changed between us but at the same time everything was different. more and more memories had come back thanks to me and Max sitting on the balcony all evening and well past midnight looking at every picture we had of each other. after each picture, Max told a story about that particular moment or about that day.

we arrived at the rainforest and we parked the mopeds along the road. I saw a big path a few meters from where we had parked so I pointed to the road and told Max to follow me. I hadn't told Max that the hike itself would take about an hour because I knew he would start complaining and whining after every meter.

the sun was beating down on us and I could feel my t-shirt sticking to my skin. I took off my shirt and went with only a bikini top and a maxi skirt. I felt Max's eyes staring into my back. the path started to get trickier and we needed to check the ground to avoid tripping over rocks and roots.Max came up next to me and put his arm around my shoulder and it felt unexpectedly good. i noticed he was getting frustrated that we never arrived and he started asking if i had tricked him into the woods to get rid of him but i just laughed and kept walking.

after a while we could hear a roaring sound that grew louder with each step we took. we continued walking and the forest opened up and in front of us we saw the waterfall that almost sparkled and below it formed a large pool.
