Christian gave me a new contract to continue driving for them next season but I didn't know if I wanted to sign it or not. I would talk to Christian about it when we were going to Singapore. neither George nor Lando had spoken to me and stayed away like I was the plague but even though I hated it I had grown closer to Alex and Lily.

the idea was that Max and I would go tomorrow, but plans had changed so we went today instead. Max knew it took forever to get over jet lag and he hated me being grumpy so he made sure we left earlier so I wouldn't be grumpy during media day.

we were on the plane and I had tried to teach him card decks but when he didn't understand I picked out a puzzle. he couldn't find any pieces that fit together so he had gotten grumpy about it which made me laugh at him which resulted in him getting angrier.

"so" Max began

"so what?"

"will you sign the new contract?"

"to be honest, I'm not leaning towards it"

"you're an idiot if you don't sign, you love this sport"

"I love the sport yes. but I'm not going to stay if I don't enjoy anything else"

"what do you mean. what makes you not like the sport?"

"it's hell to have to see my brother and best friend avoid me, the hate still manages to get on my nerves even though I try to shake them off"

"I know how one of those problems can be solved," Max said in almost a whisper.

"what do you mean"

"your brother and Lando avoid you because of me and I know how much they mean to you.... get rid of the problem"

"What, get rid of the problem, it's you who they think is the problem"

"yes..."

I now understood what Max meant and I felt my heart break.

"I'm not going to get rid of you, you understand?"

"Maybe it's the only way to get back together with them"

"if this is your fucking way to break up, it's very bad Max Emilian Verstappen"

what a fucking joke my life was. fought all my life to drive in a sport I love but was hated. get the love of my life but my best friend and brother avoid me. to get them to talk to me, my boyfriend wants us to break up.
